The study of genomics is helping clinicians to understand better the interaction between genes and the environment. This new information and knowledge will continue to help clinicians find ways to improve health and prevent disease. How do you envision patient care will change based on genomics in 10 years, 20 years, or 50 years in the future?

When it comes to learning, technology, and nursing education work hand in hand. Academic online learning has been incorporated into 21st-century technology, which also gives the possibility for interdisciplinary research and exchange across curricula, universities, and worldwide (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2018). Numerous technological resources and delivery methods support nursing education. This is a component of the movement toward a more connected learning experience as nursing education evolves. Learning experiences are influenced by factors including medical encounters and realistic environments in nursing education and practice, even if the function of nursing and the provision of education is dynamically changing (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2018).
Individualized instruction is provided through computer-assisted instruction (CAI) applications in the form of adaptable situations, frameworks, and study programs (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2018). Convenience and flexibility are the main drivers behind the demand for online education (Bourne et al., 2019). Students who are balancing a family, career, and other commitments can acquire a degree through online study without giving up their other pursuits or duties. Fewer disruptions and more balance result from students being able to fit their education around their schedules through online learning. As often as necessary, students are allowed to review the content, including listening to lectures.
The presence of the instructor is the key to online educational success (Bourne et al., 2019). Throughout nursing education, the role of the instructor as a facilitator of learning should be highlighted. The systematic use of best practice standards is made easier with the help of an online instructor checklist. Cultivating knowledge, managing instruction, and guided practice are all parts of the teaching engagement (Bourne et al., 2019). Despite the push and the rise in popularity of online nursing programs, effective nursing education still relies on student motivation, interactive learning, and commitment.

The benefits of a more wired learning experience in nursing education gives nursing students that advantage that is essential to their future success in nursing and ultimately, it leads to better outcomes and improved patient safety (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2017). Preparing nursing students for nursing in the 21st century means that they need to be able to apply and incorporate clinical practice and computer technology. This is one of the reasons that nursing educators are incorporating various forms of technology in their teaching such as simulation, online discussions, information literacy or webinars (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2017).
McGonigle and Mastrian state that nursing student whose nurse faculty use a traditional face to face lecture retain approximately five percent of the material (2017). Nurse faculty that use a more wired approach to their teaching modality allow student more accessibility and recognizes the individual needs of the student/learner (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2017). Educating nursing students with a more wired approach also may promote continuing professional education during their time in practice (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2017).
The force of how quickly health care and technology are advancing is driving the need for nursing students to build a foundation and understanding of how to incorporate technology into their delivery of care (Williamson & Muckle, 2018). Nursing faculty and nursing schools need to provide the learning opportunities of wired learning for the students to be able to transitions into clinical practice and have the tools needed to deliver the best quality health care.

GEN499 Ashford University Week 1 Discussion Post to select a research paper topic. Of the ones listed below, I would like to select Government Accountability and Corruption.
Reflect: When considering a research topic, consider an interesting topic that is worth further research. For instance, having a strong opinion on a specific topic may deter you from thinking more critically, and therefore the research might end up being one-sided. It is a good idea to pick a topic in which you can provide a good argument for both sides of the societal issue.
Write: For this discussion, address the following prompts:
Identify a global societal issue from the following list that you would consider researching further for your Week 5 Final Paper:
Climate change
Pollution
Religious conflict and violence
Rise of artificial intelligence
Lack of education
Unemployment and lack of economic opportunity
Government accountability and corruption
Food and water security
International drug trafficking
Poverty and income inequality
Describe effective methods you used in identifying and narrowing down to just one of the topics to further research for your Final Paper.
Explain three ways you can critically analyze sources to determine if they are scholarly.
Summarize information from at least two scholarly journal articles from the UAGC Library that will support your claims for your chosen topic.
Explain why scholarly sources should be used to support your writing on the selected topic.
Download and attach a PDF copy of one of the peer-reviewed scholarly articles that you found from the UAGC Library to your answer using the “Attach†function located below your response.
