Section I: Abstract and Keywords

 

·       Abstract and keywords is a separate page and is not to be included in the 5-7 page count for the assignment. 

·       The abstract should be between 150-200 words in length and include the keywords (formatted correctly) from the literature review assignment.

 

Section II: Introduction                                                   

·       Include a paragraph background explaining the topic.

·       The project’s objectives and goals (SMART goals).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            

·       How this initiative will advance new knowledge, new ways of understanding or, improved patient outcomes for the identified stakeholders.

Section III: Literature Review and Gap Analysis

·       Introduction                                                          

·       Literature Review (summarize and synthesize the content of the literature review in paragraph form) – do not include individual article summaries- write a summary of the key points that you found in the literature. Include any articles that you read for your discussion responses and were helpful in the design and implementation of your project.                           

·       Learning Needs (assessment parameters to identify stakeholders’ needs) and Gap Analysis (summarize the content in paragraph form).

·       How the need for change drove the decision making process with respect to project design.

 

              Section IV: Developing an Intervention Plan

·       Change approach, facilitators and barriers to the implementation process.

·       Formation, role responsibilities of interprofessional team members to drive the implementation process.

·       Cultural and generational considerations in the project’s design. If you have not addressed this in MN 590, you will be doing so in MN 603. You can leave this out unless your objectives are tied to cultural and/or generational considerations.

 

Section V: Interim Results: Expected Outcomes and Conclusions

 

·       Summary paragraph.  If the project remains in the implementation stage by this Assignment due date, provide some ideas for evaluation processes that you plan to implement in MN 603.

·       Include a discussion of the application to clinical practice-how this EBP project will improve outcomes.

You may choose to have a table or figure in your paper.  Please consult the APA manual (7th ed.) for formatting of tables and figures.

There are specific steps that one takes when designing and implementing an EBP project. Having a spirit of inquiry is key to the process. Evidence-based practice projects always ask a question and for nursing these queries are typically in the form of a PICOT (population, Intervention, comparison, outcome and time). You have completed the initial steps of your project including the search for the best evidence. You have identified your stakeholders, designed and implemented your project through measurable objectives and developed goals within a designed timeframe.

Topic 1: Answering the PICOT Question

Use this discussion to present your PICOT. Be sure to include any interprofessional initiatives that you have used in the design and implementation process.
