Discuss some of the basic differences between how  the two fields might respond differently to policies to try to reduce  the transmission of COVID-19 in both our country and globally.

In a speech in 1966, Robert F. Kennedy said “There is a Chinese  curse which says ‘May he live in interesting times.’ Like it or not we  live in interesting times. They are times of danger and uncertainty; but  they are also more open to the creative energy of men than any other  time in history.” (jfklibrary, n.d.).

*Note, that the first record of this phrase “may he live in interesting times” is in a speech by Sir Austen Chamberlain in 1936.*

**Also, there is no evidence that this was ever a Chinese curse.**

Currently, our world is facing a global pandemic, and individuals’  self-interests are pitted against the common good. People have been  asked to socially distance or self-isolate. Moreover, if people have  COVID-19, they may be asked to quarantine and not leave their home.

Using the due process and crime control model paradigmdevelop and describe a potential due process model policy recommendation for COVID-19 to reduce the transmission of the virus.  Then, develop and describe a potential crime control model policy recommendation for COVID-19 to reduce transmissionCan  you think of times when you might want to apply discretion in your  policy? If so, provide examples of why/when you might want to offer  discretion.

Finally, although the fields of psychology and law attempt  collaboration, such collaboration sometimes leads to frustration for  both fields. Discuss some of the basic differences between how  the two fields might respond differently to policies to try to reduce  the transmission of COVID-19 in both our country and globally. You may want to think in terms of philosophies, decision-making processes, methodologies, etc.

This paper should be no more than 3 pages of content typed and  double-spaced (reference page does not count as part of the 3 pages.)

Please provide APA citations (in-text parenthetical) and an APA  reference page. (You do not need a title page, but be sure to put your  name on the document).

Please submit as a file upload.

I will grade this take-home essay on the 3 Cs: content (your  knowledge of relevant content), creativity (creative, outside of the box  thinking in developing policies), and clarity of thoughts and writing.

Why is a consideration of culture so key to psychological assessment? And if it is so key, why has this factor been historically de-emphasized in the past?

Chapter 4 of the textbook introduces the topic of culturally informed psychological assessment. This term is defined as approach to assessment that is attune to the role of culture on the evaluation process or the interpretation of resulting data.

  • Discuss the concept of culturally informed psychological assessment.
  • Why is a consideration of culture so key to psychological assessment? And if it is so key, why has this factor been historically de-emphasized in the past?
  • What are the limits of being a “culturally informed” psychological assessor?
  • What else might you add (or take away) from the list of culturally informed “do’s” and “don’ts” that is presented at the end of Chapter 4? Explain your response.

Be specific in your response. Include concepts from your readings and at least two scholarly sources. Be sure to give appropriate credit to your sources (e.g., APA style citations and references). Your initial post is due on Wednesday. A minimum of three responses to classmates on at least two days of the week is required. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

For this assignment, select a peer-reviewed journal article relating to an area of problem solving, decision making, or an intelligence theory that was discussed in class (e.g., fluid or crystalline intelligence, primary/secondary reinforcers, biases, or effective problem-solving strategies).

The article must meet the following criteria:

  1. The article must be from a peer-reviewed journal.
  2. The article must be obtained from the GCU Library. (VERY IMPORTANT)
  3. The article must be a research study, rather than a literature review (i.e., the article has to have methods, results, and discussion sections).
  4. The article must utilize a cognitive or behavioral theory, model, or effect.
  5. The purpose of this article review is to get you to think critically about an area of cognition or learning. After reading your chosen article, address the following questions. Use subheadings to differentiate between the various aspects of your review. Remember, APA guidelines can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Major Findings/Conclusions:

  1. Be sure to include the major findings of the study.
  2. What conclusions did the researchers draw from the data?

Implications for the Field of Psychology (how the findings could be used/applied in the field):

  1. Include how the results of the study can be applied (e.g., why are the findings of the study important?). These may be the implications the authors put forth, or your own ideas (be sure to cite if they are not your ideas).
  2. How would psychology/education/counseling professionals benefit (learn) from the findings?
  3. How might the results improve knowledge or application in the field? What should psychology professionals “take away” from the findings?

Method/Participants:

  1. Describe the basics of how the study was conducted. What procedures were used?
  2. Who were the participants?

Strengths/Limitations of the Study:

  1. Include at least one strength AND one limitation you saw in the study.
  2. Explain why you believe each is a strength or limitation. Hint: study findings are not “strengths” in and of themselves.

The article review should be 1,000-1,250 words. Include a minimum of three scholarly articles.
