Explain the differences between the ethical standards for clients being treated by psychologists in counseling sessions and the standards for conducting psychological research with human participants.

How Ethics Differ in Research and Therapeutic Practice

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read the APA’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct  (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.in its entirety, paying special attention to standards 8 and 10 that cover ethics in research and therapeutic practice. Oftentimes research methods courses discuss the ethics of research and focus on historic examples of unethical research studies. This discussion of ethics will involve a different focus. The Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. presents information on ethical standards and expectations that apply to specific situations, including therapy and research. Explain the differences between the ethical standards for clients being treated by psychologists in counseling sessions and the standards for conducting psychological research with human participants. Consider your future career in the field of psychology and describe the parts of the Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. you expect to relate directly to your future career. Select and provide the number for one ethical requirement that applies specifically to psychological research and briefly summarize the standard. Explain why this requirement may not apply to a therapy situation.

Identify and briefly describe the key points of one of the major developmental theories and why you feel that theory is applicable to child and/or adolescent development.

Importance of Theory and Research in Child Development

Prior to completing this journal assignment, please read Modules 1and 2 in your textbook, view the “Endless Questions” video, and review any relevant Instructor Guidance. You may want to look specifically at the interactive media tools demonstrating information on theory which are provided in the Section 1.5 (within Module 1) of the textbook.

In a Journal entry of 500-1000 words, begin by reflecting on this anecdotal phrase that one might hear, “I did that with my children and it worked fine for them.”  Describe your own thoughts about this statement and explain why this may be true in some cases, but not in others.  You may use personal experiences or examples to support your evidence-based statements and opinions, if you wish.

Then, watch the “Endless Questions” video analyzing child development research and find one additional scholarly source of your choice (see tips and a link to tutorials below) and use them to reflect on and answer the following questions:

  • Why is it important to utilize developmental theory to explain a foundational knowledge of children’s development?
  • What makes scholarly research different from anecdotal evidence (or personal experience) in explaining child and adolescent development?  [Hint: Consider the methodology of the article you are reading.
  • Identify and briefly describe the key points of one of the major developmental theories and why you feel that theory is applicable to child and/or adolescent development.

Finally, relate the value of continued learning with a concluding reflection on why we should incorporate both personal experience and scholarly research grounded in theory to help support any statements made in this class or any other professional setting.

You are required to utilize at least one additional scholarly source not from this week’s required readings (including, but not limited to, the multimedia in the recommended resources for Week One).  You must cite all of your sources (including the video embedded above) in proper APA style.  If you are unsure how to create an APA style reference page, please visit the Citation and Reference page on the Ashford Writing Center website. Aside from the video embedded in the prompt, you are to find one other scholarly through the Ashford Library website to help support your reflections in Part II.  View this great tutorial provided by the Ashford University Library which will show you how to find scholarly articles and how to assess the scholarly quality of the resource.

NOTE: As you are completing your searches in the library search engines, check the boxes in the search engines of the library for scholarly, peer-reviewed sources. This allows you to find resources that have been evaluated by a number of experts in the field and do not represent just one person’s opinion.

Describe how the elements of painting are discernible in this work. What  feelings are you receiving from this painting? Explain

Choose one of the following for this week’s assignment:  Â Choose either Georgia O’Keefe’s Ram’s Head, White Hollyhock-Hills, 1935 on page 123, or Salvador Dali’s The Persistence of Memory,  1931 on page 122 to write about. Name your chosen work. Describe how the elements of painting are discernible in this work. What  feelings are you receiving from this painting? Explain. What is the author trying to say to you? Explain. Use between 200-250 words to  complete this assignment.  Â Raphael’s The Alba Madonna, 1510, is a later Renaissance work. Which of our themes of humanism, individualism, and scientific  naturalism do you see in this painting? Do you see much perspective or chiaroscuro in this piece? If so, describe. Use 200-250 words to  complete this assignment.  Â Write a letter to either da Vinci, van Gogh, or Picasso and discuss his signature work(s). Describe what you feel and think from this work.  Ask any questions about this author’s intent. Use 200-250 words to complete this assignment.  Â Compare Picasso’s Guernica (p. 120) to Goya’s The Third of May 1808, 1814 on page 111. Both paintings deal with the subject of war  and man’s brutality to man. Even though these artists painted these pictures about one hundred years apart, how are they similar? And,  both artists painted in different styles and contexts, so how are these paintings different? Use 200-250 words to complete this assignment.

Identify and articulate the similarities and differences between the therapeutic and forensic roles for both assessment and treatment.

This assignment is worth 300 points, and I need at least 285 POINTS SO WORK MUST BE GREAT!!!! Must be new and original work and not duplicated to other students, in apa format, and must cite 10use AT LEAST additional peer reviewed source. MUST MEET ALL CRITERIA IN GRADING RUBRING FOR AN A ON THE PAPER. KEEP ALL OBJECTIVES CLEARLY LISTED IN THE PAPER.

For many years, the ethical dilemma of playing both a therapeutic role and a forensic role has been debated in the literature. Some authorities argue that there is always a conflict of interest in such dual relationships, while other authorities argue that the two roles can be reconciled and impartiality can be maintained. ——>>>Using the Argosy University online library resources and the Internet, locate at least ten articles<——–  (all 10 must be cited and use additional references) that discuss the therapeutic role and the forensic role and take a stance on this particular debate. (You must take a stance with either therapeutic or forensic role). Make sure that your collection of articles is balanced with regard to the roles and the viewpoints.

Tasks:

Utilize the ethical decision-making process you learned about in M1 Assignment 3 to create a 7- to 8-page argumentative paper supporting your stand. First, compare and contrast the roles, articulate the potential ethical conflicts, and discuss how those conflicts might be managed. Then, in a reasoned fashion, develop an argument for whether the two roles—therapeutic and forensic—should ethically coincide.

The course paper is essentially an argumentative essay. Refer to the following for guidelines on writing argumentative essays:

Ensure that you follow the following instructions:

  • Identify and articulate the similarities and differences between the therapeutic and forensic roles for both assessment and treatment.
  • Articulate the potential ethical conflicts and discuss how those conflicts might be managed.
  • Using multiple sources, defend your thesis on how and why therapeutic and forensic roles should or should not be reconciled.
  • Be sure to address the issues of dual relationships as they apply to assessment as well as treatment.
  • Ensure that you argue for a particular side of the issue (not arguing both sides) and that your argument is well-supported by scholarly literature, professional ethical guidelines, and the law.
  • Include solid reasoning and a compelling thesis.
  • Remember, a strong argument always supports its ideas and proves the other side wrong. Make sure to both support your views with credible arguments and sources and refute the other side.

Use proper grammar and spelling. Additionally, the paper should be written and formatted in APA style.
