Objective: Visit the MMA, and choose one (1) Mesoamerican work of art from the collection.
Paper timeframe: pre 1521 c.e. (Topic work must be more than 500+ years old and from Mesoamerican. No South American works, please.)
Format your paper by discussing the work in the following manner: –

-narrative
-historical context
-artist biography or in the case the artist is anonymous, a description of the artist’s
culture/region and stylistic working approach.
*Always use quotation marks, underline or italicize the proper title of the work you are writing
about.
The paper is a visual response to one work at the MMA. The length must be limited to three
pages, no less and no more. The paper must be typed on plain white 8 1/2 x 11″ paper.
Include:
Along with your paper, include a drawing of the original work submitted digitally.
Museum Rules:
(If in person) No pens, Pencils only. No touching the artwork and please be courteous and respectful in the museum. During the pandemic no student is required to attend a museum in
person. The Met is currently open but health and safety are our #1 priority. Be safe, visit the website @ metmuseum.org for this assignment.
