Type in the name of a company or organization into a search engine (e.g., Google, Yahoo, Ask.com, etc.). Critique the first five hits using the criteria presented at beginning of Chapter 13 under the heading “Finding, Evaluating, and Processing Information.” Be sure to include the company or organization name that you searched and an APA citation for each of the five hits.

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read Chapter 3, Chapter 10, and Chapter 11 from your textbook; the Week 4 Weekly Lecture; and the articles Non-Verbal Communication in Intercultural Business Negotiations and How the Diversity of Values Matters in Intercultural Communication.

Your boss wants to send out a brief company email welcoming employees who recently transferred from the Hong Kong branch to your department. These employees, all of whom are Hong Kong natives, speak English, but your boss asks you to review his message for clarity. Using a minimum of one scholarly and/or credible source from the library, what would you suggest your boss change in the following email message and why? Is this message audience centered? Why or why not? How would you redraft this message for clarity?

“I wanted to welcome you ASAP to our little family here in the States. It’s high time we shook hands in person and not just across the sea. I’m pleased as punch about getting to know you all, and I for one will do my level best to sell you on America.”

Discuss your options in the job market based on your educational level.

The IOM published report, “Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health,” makes recommendations for lifelong learning and achieving higher levels of education.

In 1,000-words, examine the importance of nursing education and discuss your overall educational goals.

Include the following:

1. Discuss your options in the job market based on your educational level.

2. Review the IOM Future of Nursing Recommendations for achieving higher levels of education. Describe what professional certification and advanced degrees (MSN, DNP, etc.) you want to pursue and explain your reasons for wanting to attain the education. Discuss your timeline for accomplishing these goals.

3. Discuss how increasing your level of education would affect how your competitiveness in the current job market and your role in the future of nursing.

4. Discuss the relationship of continuing nursing education to competency, attitudes, knowledge, and the ANA Scope and Standards for Practice and Code of Ethics.

5. Discuss whether continuing nursing education should be mandatory. Provide support for your response.

You are required to cite three to five sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and relevant to nursing practice.  Abstract and wrap up conclusion are necessary.

For this unit, assume you are in the research and development division of your selected organization. The CEO has directed you to come up with a new product or service that will be delivered to the American or global consumer in the next 12 months. Using your creativity and what you have learned thus far, establish goals and a SMARTER outline by explaining each of your SMARTER characteristics for your product /service over the next year.

In your assignment, address the components listed below.

1) Frame your paper with a solid introduction.

2) Develop the body of your paper using the SMARTER acronym, and explain each area over a 12-month period. Note: You need to be creative and figure out goals and timelines with the SMARTER framework with specific details. In your explanation, include how the SMARTER acronym can be used to improve performance practices.

3) Provide a conclusion and recommendation summary to your CEO.

4) Support your paper with at least one reference. This may be your course textbook.

Your assignment must be a minimum of two pages in length, not counting the title and reference pages. All sources used, including the textbook, must be cited and referenced according to APA guidelines.

CLASSMATE’S POST

For me personally, intrinsic rewards are more motivating, but I feel for most people extrinsic rewards are more motivating. The employees that I have had the pleasure of supervising were much more appreciative and motivated by receiving rewards such as certificates to hang on their wall, a dinner for two for them and their spouse, tickets to sporting events, prepaid cards to Walmart or anything tangible they could touch and feel. I can be self-motivated just by obtaining a goal that I set or an increase in sales due to my management style. I admit, when I first started my career, I could be motivated by the extrinsic rewards, but as I have been around a little longer, I now just prefer the intrinsic rewards. I think management does have to know their employees, so they understand what does motivate them. Motivation is important for job performance, employee retention, self-esteem and morale. The cost of motivation is minimum, but the value of motivation is significant.
