How do see the four different leaderships styles shared in the article align with using developmentally appropriate practices when working with young children?

Leadership Journal #2

As was highlighted in your previous course, throughout the MAECEL program, you will create one leadership journal in each course throughout your program.  These journal entries are designed to help you built upon what you have learned in previous courses, and to expand and extend your thinking about yourself as a professional and ethical leader in early childhood education.

Part 1:  Course Reflection (1 point): For your second journal, you will begin by reading the article, Leadership Styles (Links to an external site.). Respond to each essential question below. Provide an explanation with supporting details and examples in your response to each reflective question.

  1. How do see the four different leaderships styles shared in the article align with using developmentally appropriate practices when working with young children?
  2. What connections do you see between these leadership styles and promoting the healthy growth and development of young children?

Part 2: Program/Professional Reflection (2 points). Describe someone from your personal or professional life that personifies each leadership trait reflected in the article (these can be different people or the same person), and how they have positively impacted your life. How does this person exemplify the leadership traits you have learned about so far in this program?  Reflect on which trait(s) you identify yourself with now, and how each trait will foster your ability to be an effective leader in your field.  Finally, what is your plan for strengthening those traits that might not be as evident currently?

Suggested Assignment Length: One to three double-spaced pages (not including title and reference pages).

Integrative and Critical Thinking Expectations (demonstrated within the content of the journal):

  • Connections to Experience (.5 points):  Meaningfully synthesizes connections among experiences both within and outside of coursework to deepen understanding of fields of study and to broaden own points of view.
  • Reflection and Self-Assessment (.5 points): Envisions a future self (and possibly makes plans that build on past experiences) that have occurred across multiple and diverse contexts.

Research and Resource Expectations:

  • Sources are not required for your journal assignments.  However, if you need to cite information, you must cite in APA format and include a reference page.

Writing and Formatting Expectations:

  • Professional Reflective Voice (.25 points):  Journals may be written in a less formal, but still professional voice (avoids casual language).  First person voice is encouraged.
  • Organization (.25 points):  Demonstrates logical progression of ideas.
  • Syntax and Mechanics (.25  points): Writing displays meticulous comprehension and organization of syntax and mechanics, such as spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • APA Formatting (.25  points): Papers are formatted properly and all sources (if used) are cited and referenced in APA style as outlined.

Describe how your interventions align with the client’s demographics or sociocultural background, diagnosis, and presenting problem.

For this discussion:

· Summarize briefly a treatment plan you have developed for a client with whom you have been working at your fieldwork site. Include client demographics, diagnosis, presenting issues, and at least two specific counseling goals.

· Identify one specific counseling intervention you have used for each of the stated goals.

· Describe how your interventions align with the client’s demographics or sociocultural background, diagnosis, and presenting problem.

· Describe any research you did to identify interventions that were supported by research as being effective. Include references to any articles that you located.

· Describe your experience using these interventions in counseling sessions and how you evaluated their effectiveness. How did you know if the interventions were effective or not? If the interventions were ineffective, what could have been done differently?

Your post and responses are expected to be substantive in nature and to reference the assigned readings, as well as other theoretical, empirical, or professional literature to support your views and writings. Reference your sources using standard APA guidelines.

Discuss the keys to success in developing Stage I and Stage II organizations. Provide an example of a successful company in each stage.

Planning for Long-Term Success You are to write a three  page paper that answers the following:

  1. Once an organization has identified its business foundation, it begins the process of developing tasks that are critical in determining its success in each stage of growth. Describe the six (6) developmental tasks that are necessary for long-term success.
  2. Discuss the keys to success in developing Stage I and Stage II organizations. Provide an example of a successful company in each stage.
  3. Stages I and II represent the entrepreneurial phase of organizational development while Stage III represents the professional management phase.  Discuss the differences between an entrepreneurship and a professionally managed organization.
  4. Discuss the keys to success in developing a Stage III organization and a critical challenge that must be met if an organization is to make the transition from an entrepreneurship to a professionally managed organization.

The format of the paper is to be as follows:

  • Typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman font (size 12), one-inch margins on all sides (SWS format).
  • Type the question followed by your answer to the question.
  • In addition to the three  pages required, a title page is to be included. The title page is to contain the title of the assignment, your name, the instructor’s name, the course title, and the date.

Identify the type of inductive argument and any features of the way the argument is constructed that you find relevant.

The first two steps in evidence-based practice are to identify knowledge gaps and formulate relevant questions. In this writing exercise, you will be doing just that, across three types of inductive reasoning. In addition, you will be applying evaluation techniques to determine how credible, authoritative, and reliable the arguments are.

Scenario
Imagine your boss has asked you to evaluate four ideas that she is thinking of using to implement programs. You must evaluate whether these are good ideas that she can safely and immediately green-light or whether further evidence is needed. She is anxious to move forward, so she will be unhappy if you reject a good idea; however, if you approve a bad idea, she will be equally as unhappy. She has specifically directed you not to do any outside research. You must evaluate the ideas strictly on the brief passages available. She also wants to know what specific kind of reasoning is used in each passage

Instructions
Using everything you have learned from the text, as well as any other information you have gathered from your searches related to this week’s discussion, evaluate the following four arguments:

CH 8  (7,10)

CH 9 (1)

CH 10 (1)

For each exercise, address the following:

  • Identify the type of inductive argument and any features of the way the argument is constructed that you find relevant.
  • Explain how convincing you think the argument is.
  • Does it have sufficient evidence to allow you to suggest that she move forward with the idea or does the argument have knowledge gaps?
  • What questions need to be answered to close these gaps?
  • Does the argument contain any information that adds to its authority, credibility, or reliability?

You need to show your boss that you know what factors have to be considered in evaluating each type of argument and how well the argument meets the criteria.
