Define what a family is, and what families do

Directions:
Respond to each item. Each response should be concise and between 2–3 paragraphs in length.
Use MS Word to write your responses, and submit your answers to all three questions in one Word document.
Copy and paste each question within the document, so that your Instructor can see which question you are responding to.

  1. Define what a family is, and what families do. Review pages 83-105 in the course text; then describe two ways that family functioning has changed throughout history. Explain how these changes may be impacting the lives of young children and may impact your work as a professional.
  2. Your course text asks the question: “What impact do collectivistic and individualistic parenting orientations have on children?” Review the information on pages 130-133 and Table 4.1 on page 137, which summarizes the two types of orientation. What are the differences between these two orientations? How might making generalizations about a family’s orientation lead to misconceptions or other problems?
  3. Parenting practices influence children’s behavior at home and in school. Review Baumrind’s four parenting styles on pages 151-155 of your text. Identify and explain the parenting style that seems to result in the most productive child behaviors. How could Baumrind’s findings with regard to the outcome of parenting styles guide the ways in which you may work with families in the future?

Determine at least four (4) different learning assets (e.g., lecture, video, discussion, test / quiz, etc.) that can be integrated in the LMS. Note: At least two (2) of the assets that you determine should be interactive.

Assignment 3: Designing Curriculum for Your LMS

Due Week 7 and worth 160 points

Now that you have identified an LMS for your organization, you need to determine several assets that you would include in your courses or training. You will also need to decide if the material will be delivered synchronously, asynchronously, or as a hybrid of the two.

Write a two to four (2-4) page paper in which you:

  1. Determine at least four (4) different learning assets (e.g., lecture, video, discussion, test / quiz, etc.) that can be integrated in the LMS. Note: At least two (2) of the assets that you determine should be interactive.
  2. Determine the delivery modality (i.e., synchronously, asynchronously, or as a hybrid) for each asset that you have identified and how the related delivery modality will work the best for your organization. Provide a rationale for your response.
  3. Create an outline of five (5) curriculum objectives that support your learning assets and provide one (1) sample for each chosen learning asset for the curriculum.

Note: The samples can be short and simple depending on your course topic. The goal is to test whether the assets work functionally in the LMS. The sample file pages are not included in the required assignment page length.

Note: You may use assets that you created from others courses (e.g., EDU 522, etc.).

  1. Specify the key stakeholders who are responsible for managing the assets and what criteria they will use to manage.
  2. Analyze how each asset enhances the educational goals of your course and examine the way(s) in which the LMS supports those goals.
  3. Provide at least three (3) reliable, relevant, peer-reviewed references (no more than one [1] used previously), published within the last five (5) years that support the paper’s claims.

7.  Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:

a.  Typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.

b.  Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.

c.  Include a reference page. Citations and references must follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.

What are the indicators of exceptionality a classroom teacher    should look for when a student also has a language barrier?

Interview one content area classroom teacher that services ELLs in a  Title 1 setting about how assessment is used for placement. You should  also inquire also about how placement is determined for both special  education and gifted ELLs. Your questions might include, but not  limited to, the following:

  1. What are the indicators of exceptionality a classroom teacher    should look for when a student also has a language barrier?
  2. How do informal and formal assessment results factor into  placement?
  3. What role do parents and teachers have in  placement?
  4. What are some primary factors that are exhibited    in underachievement that may not necessarily signal special    education needs?
  5. How are changes among individual ELL    proficiency levels over the course of the school year accounted  for?
  6. How are diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments    integrated for ELLs in mainstream classrooms?
  7. What are the    benefits of the SIOP protocol for native English speakers as well as    those for whom English is an additional language?

Consolidate your findings in a 15-20 slide PowerPoint presentation  to inform your colleagues about the assessment and placement process.

Describe the content and use of the Arizona English Language Learner  Assessment (AZELLA) in guiding ELL instruction. How do AZELLA score  reports facilitate achievement among ELLs? Compare the use of the  AZELLA to the assessment and placement process in your state. If your  state is Arizona, you may elaborate on this process. How does the  assessment and placement process in your state facilitate achievement  among ELLs?

Support your presentation with at least three scholarly resources.

Include presenter’s notes, a title slide, and a reference slide.
