Compare and contrast the professional assessment in career services with the popular press assessment you found online. Address each of the basic measurement issue listed below.

Career counselors often use psychological assessments to assist individuals in career planning and goal-setting. There are several steps that can be helpful in the career planning process, such as conducting a self-assessment, exploring industries/careers, and determining factors that are non-negotiable (e.g., shift, location, salary, the need for specific benefits). Prior to beginning work on this assignment, you will need to read the article by Barr (2014) and take two different types of self-discovery assessment.

To begin, research VIA Character Strengths Test, O*Net Interest Profiler, and TypeFocus listed below to determine which one is of interest to you. Once you have completed your research, take one of the assessment to complete Part I of your Journal.

Who benefits from globalization and who is harmed by it?  How have you and your family been affected?

Globalization has had both positive and negative effects for most people.  The rich and the middle class have had mostly positive effects, though the poor have been affected in more complicated ways.  The poor in other countries are often less poor than they were before, though they have still not benefited as much as the rich have since the gap between rich and poor has widened.  And the working class in America and other industrial nations like Britain is often worse off than they were.

Globalization has shifted most manufacturing jobs overseas or have moved to automation. Many people in America have lost their jobs and been forced to find new careers.  The old manufacturing jobs were typically union jobs with good pensions and healthcare, whereas new jobs are in fields that are not unionized are far harder on workers. Countless men and women in the working class feel left behind.

While many people’s lives are getting better, theirs are getting worse.  This sentiment led to a political uprising of white working-class men and women who voted for Donald Trump out of frustration with mainstream leaders whose neoliberal and libertarian commitment to a globalized free market has harmed them.

In this discussion, explore some of the positive and negative effects of globalization.  Who benefits from globalization and who is harmed by it?  How have you and your family been affected?

Be as specific as possible when explaining why globalization benefits and harms people and support your claims with references from any of the readings this week.  For example, you might consider whether globalization is good for women (as discussed in the Alison Jaggar article) or how globalization has led to the rise of terrorism (as hinted at in the Benjamin Barber article).

Embed an image or short video to back up your thoughts.  Job aids will be posted at the beginning of the class week.

Discuss the teaching priorities for Fascia prior to taking Timothy home from the clinic (Broyles, 2006) .

Gastrointestinal Case Study

You will be assigned one of the case studies by your instructor. Once you have completed the assigned case study please respond to 2 of your classmates by the assigned due date.

Timothy is an 11 month old infant who lives with his 16 year old mother and his grandmother in an urban apartment. His mother, Fascia, has stayed at home with Timothy since his birth, but plans to return to school this coming fall. His grandmother works 12 hour shifts to support her daughter and grandson. Because of her mother’s work schedule, Fascia has little guidance at home. Fascia and her mother bring Timothy in to the clinic for his first visit because he needs a physical and “shots” so he can be enrolled in daycare when Fascia returns to school in a month.

While taking his history, the nurse finds that Timothy has generalized weakness and is cachexic. He weighs in the 5th percentile for his height and age. The nurse notes that Timothy has not received his 2, 4, or 6 month immunizations. Fascia tells the nurse that she didn’t know he needed “shots” until she and her mother tried to enroll him in daycare. She further tells the nurse that when Timothy cries, she feeds him but he usually drinks only “half a bottle (8 oz)” of cow’s milk at each feeding. She feeds him table food when he is up at a time she is eating. Fascia tells the nurse that Timothy is a “good baby” who doesn’t cry much and sleeps most of the time. He sits up by himself but hasn’t started crawling. Fascia keeps him in his play yard when he is awake and he reaches and grasps objects with the palms of his hands. He says “mama” and “bye bye”. Fascia says she doesn’t hold Timothy “much because I don’t want to spoil him”.

  1. What is a potential diagnosis for Timothy?
  2. What other assessment data would be helpful for the nurse practitioner to have?
  3. What are Timothy’s risk factors for his potential diagnosis?
  4. Compare organic, nonorganic and idiopathic FTT.
  5. Discuss the usual diagnostic tests used to determine which type of FTT a child has.
  6. What are the priorities of care for Timothy?
  7. Discuss the impact of the potential diagnosis of nonorganic failure to thrive on Timothy’s growth and development.
  8. Discuss the potential long term effects of FTT.
  9. Would a multidisciplinary team approach be beneficial to Timothy and his family, if so, who should be involved in this team?
  10. Discuss the teaching priorities for Fascia prior to taking Timothy home from the clinic (Broyles, 2006) .

In this project, you will realize that you really need to invest in a new computer to complete course assignments for the school’s use. You will create a worksheet, use the PMT function, and format a worksheet to show a comparison of two electronic computers that you are interested in purchasing. You will make a comparison of the two items and determine which one is feasible to purchase.

  • The Excel PMT function is used to calculate the payment for a loan based on constant payments and a constant interest rate.
  • Click here for more information on how to use the PMT function.

To complete this assignment, perform the following tasks:

  1. Start a new blank worksheet. Open the Excel workbook and save the worksheet as “FirstInital_LastName_ChartsIPA03.xlsx.”
  2. Click in cell A1 and type the title, “School Computer Purchase Analysis.”
  3. Data has been provided for you to generate a payment for each of the two products to help determine which product is feasible for you to purchase for school purposes. Click hereto access the data.
  4. The loan parameters have been entered into the worksheet, and you are ready to work with the PMT function. Click in cells B8 and E8 to calculate the amount to finance.
  5. Save the workbook as “FirstInitial_LastName_Purchase_solution.”
  6. Click in cells B10 and B11 to produce a formula using the PMT function.
    • Hint: Click Insert function and select PMT for payment.
  7. Merge and center the titles in Cells A1:E1. Format your worksheet by including color as well as providing an appropriate clip art to accent the document.
  8. Click in cell A27 and enter your name and use the Today function in cell A28.
  9. Click in cell A18 and use a formula to show the comparison in the two monthly payments, and describe which payment would be more feasible for a new college student to afford.
  10. Indent the content in cells A9:A14 and show the Payment amount in font size 14.
  11. Indent the content in cells D9:D14 and show the Payment amount in font size 14.
  12. Save the School Computer Purchase Analysis spreadsheet. Submit the School Computer Purchase Analysis spreadsheet.
