Using either PowerPoint or Prezi, create a presentation that demonstrates your comprehension regarding these communication elements: Please include the following:

In our work and personal lives, we need to be able to identify and analyze effective verbal and nonverbal communication in various situations. In the same way that you would analyze a work or personal life communication situation, you will be asked to create a short presentation (using media choices below) about the nonverbal communication demonstrated in a series of photographs. In addition to identifying aspects of nonverbal communication, you will also need to show how these elements can affect communication both positive and negatively. Include your observations of how nonverbal elements that you see alter the direction of communication.

  1. Select four of included photographs.
  2. Using either PowerPoint or Prezi, create a presentation that demonstrates your comprehension regarding these communication elements: Please include the following:
    1. A title slide including your name.
    2. Four slides that explain aspects of the nonverbal communication that you see depicted in the photographs. Be sure to include the photograph on the slide. Be as specific and detailed as possible in your description of body language, facial expression, physical distance (if applicable), gesture, and other aspects of nonverbal communication that you see.
  3. Using Screencast-o-matic (screencast-o-matic.com) or similar software, create a short video presentation of your PowerPoint or Prezi. Explain in detail the nonverbal elements of communication that you observe in each of the four photographs you have selected. Video should be between four and seven minutes long. This video should either be of the presentation itself or a hybrid video that includes both the presentation and an inset webcam video.
  4. Upload your video to screencast-o-matic, YouTube, or similar online video sharing site and provide a link to your video. Include your PowerPoint or Prezi with your submission

Describe a process for implementing the change (who would be involved, how much time, etc).  Identify an indicator and describe how that would be measured to show if the outcome improves.

Your poster presentation should have the following components:

Title Page

This should be the title of the project along with a listing of the authors of the project with identifying information (i.e.: Valparaiso University, College of Nursing).

PICOT Question

What is the PICOT question being answered by the project? Provide some background information about why this is important.

Review of the Literature

Outline the method for finding evidence. What key terms were identified in the literature search? How were articles chosen and critiqued? What criteria were used to determine inclusion in the review? Who critiqued the articles?

Synthesis of Research Findings

Make some comparisons across the evidence. What levels of evidence are present? What kinds of samples and designs were used by the researchers? Do the researchers measure the variables in the same manner? What were the overall findings in relationship to the PICOT question?

Decision to Change Practice

What is the decision for practice based on the research in light of the PICOT question?

If there is sufficient evidence for practice:

Best Practice

Describe the policy that has been created for this project.

Implementation/Evaluation

Describe a process for implementing the change (who would be involved, how much time, etc).  Identify an indicator and describe how that would be measured to show if the outcome improves.

If there is not sufficient evidence for determining practice:

Bridging the Gap

Describe what action needs to be taken to create evidence to answer the research question. For instance, does a study need to be developed or does an intervention need to be piloted.

Generating New Knowledge

Describe the manner in which the research question could be answered. If a study is indicated, then discuss the sample, design, data collection instruments, and procedure that would be used to gather data.

Collecting evidence-based practices is one thing, but collecting results from the outcomes is different. For example, evaluating how our practice affects pts is measured differently I think.

4-Clinical significance refers to that ability displayed by a treatment to enable a patient return to his or healthy state of body functioning. However, it differs from statistical significance in a sense that it is more objective i.e. it determines whether the prescribed treatment was able to achieve the intended purpose (Sedgwick, 2014). Statistical significance, though a determinant that was only used sometimes back is expressed as a variable meaning that it is never exact on whether the treatment recommended is going to restore a patient’s normality. It operates on the principle of probability.

The ultimate aim of the evidence-based practice project is to bring forth positive outcome. Incorporation of clinical significance can prove to be of great help in achieving this. Carrying out a clinical interpretation in the entire research process will be fundamental in ensuring that patient’s safety, as well as efficacy need, is put into consideration when it comes to decisions made. This will significantly enhance positive outcomes of the research work.

A critical evaluation of the research project by clinicians so as to qualify internal as well as external validity will trigger positive results. The employment of all these aspects of clinical significance will see to it that Evidence-based practice project becomes not only meaningful but also helpful to those seeking medical solutions to their unhealthy conditions.

5-According to my memory about statistics, statistical significance is a result that is not attributed to chance. Meaning that the null hypothesis is true. Using p-value of less than 0.05 shows the rejection of the null hypothesis- a significant difference exists.

“Clinical significance is the practical importance of the treatment effect, whether it has a real, palpable, noticeable effect on daily life (Leyva De Los Rios, 2017).” It is the difference in patient care outcome.

We can use statistical significance in results for evidence-based practice. Then use the clinical significance to improve the patient care outcome. Collecting articles showing a significant difference in positive outcomes of care will be supporting evidence for the proposed project for a change of practice.

6-understanding the statistics is very important in nursing. Learning how to measure outcomes in clinical practice is important. Collecting evidence-based practices is one thing, but collecting results from the outcomes is different. For example, evaluating how our practice affects pts is measured differently I think. We would have to create charts to show the improvement, right? Did your co-workers do a project like this yet?

Affordable Health Care Costs

One of the most pressing issues in health care is how to develop policies that make the cost of health care affordable to the citizens. The major issues when devising health care costs is the quality of health care, make health care accessible to more people, and ensure that the health providers receive benefits from their professional commitment. The logistics, in this case, is how to coordinate the different players in the health care system. These players include health care providers, insurance, and the government. Thus, health care providers have to develop mechanisms that ensure that they provide an affordable health care program that is cost-effective. The main approach that health care providers should ensure that they develop internal control systems that minimize costs (Hussey & Kennedy, 2016). For instance, they can hire young nurses who require lower wage rates in order to reduce the overall labor costs that are inadvertently passed over to the patients (Cherry & Jacob, 2016). In addition, to ensure that they minimize costs for the citizens they can minimize repetitive procedures that end up incurring unnecessary costs on the patients. Further, the adaption of technology can help in the data management of the population to provide health-related services and to provide preventive mechanisms to ailments.

The health insurance providers, on the other hand, have to be involved in the development of healthcare policies such as Medicaid and other policies that have been developed in the past. The development of these policies should be geared to improve the medical welfare of the citizens rather than the capitalistic approach of profit maximization. This concept should accommodate as many as all to ensure that every working-class individual has access to the health care covers (Cherry & Jacob, 2016). The significance of health care covers is to ensure that health care programs are affordable to a large population. In addition, it is aimed to minimize the immediate cost burden that the patients may find too huge to settle within a given time period.

The government acting as the health care regulator should ensure that health care products are available, as well as a sufficient health care workforce. To facilitate this, the government has to increase its health care spending and financing. To help the nursing informatics to develop new solutions and to be effective in health care delivery, the government can train the different health workers in nursing and health care fields at subsidized costs (Berg & Dickow, 2014). Further, it can subsidize the costs of health care products such as medicine to ensure that they are available.

In conclusion, the health care system can achieve affordable health care to all citizens by using a multi-faceted approach that includes all partners. Also, the issue of cost minimization while optimizing on results is key to achieving the desired ends of economics and strategy in health care. The significance of dealing with affordable health care in nursing informatics is to ensure that citizens have access to quality health care.
