Organizations often use teams to achieve work goals. Virtual teams are becoming increasingly common across industries. Research suggests that trust is an important state to cultivate in virtual teams. In this assignment, you will research and present best practices for effective communication for establishing trust in virtual teams.

I/O psychology professionals often present their findings through PowerPoint presentations. For this assignment, you will create a 10–15 slide narrated PowerPoint presentation covering best practices for effective communication in establishing trust in virtual teams. You should develop this presentation as if you were going to present it to managers who are interested in using virtual teams and narrate the presentation using an audio component.

To prepare for this assignment, you should study relevant research on this topic. Review your course readings, as well as journal articles to identify best practices for effective communication for establishing trust in virtual teams. Include the following in your presentation:

  • Discuss characteristics of virtual teams.
  • Discuss the importance of establishing trust in virtual teams. Present evidence supporting your main ideas.
  • Considering what you have studied about communication in general, communication in teams, and virtual teams, how should virtual team members communicate with one another to increase trust?
    1. Present three communication approaches or strategies that are likely to increase trust in virtual teams.
    2. Present evidence to support why each approach would be effective.

You should apply APA Style formatting throughout your presentation, including in-text citations and a references slide.

Your presentation should include 10–15 slides (not including the title slide or references slide). You should also include an introduction and summary slide. Demonstrate best practices for effective PowerPoint presentations (see Resource).

Cite a minimum of four relevant empirical research and scholarly articles within I/O psychology and related areas. You should cite peer-reviewed journal articles that were published within the last five years. Carefully select sources after reviewing the literature and evaluating the credibility, relevance, quality, and research merit of each source.

In this week’s Discussion, you determined the benefits of visually displaying your data. You also learned that different types of data require different visual displays to adequately “tell the story” of the phenomena. Although the Discussion was difficult, what is even more difficult and challenging will be deciding on how best to display the data for presentation purposes. As you move further along in your dissertation or doctoral study, you will find that displaying data will be critical component in presenting a robust and clear capstone project.

For this Introduction to Quantitative Analysis Assignment, you will explore how to visually display data for optimal use.

To prepare for this Assignment:

The threat of public stigma, as well as self-stigma, can prevent individuals from receiving the mental health treatment they need. In this Assignment, you analyze the influence of stigma on experiences with and treatment of mental illness.

Watch the TED Talk by Sangu Delle and then review the readings for this week. Focus on Delle’s examples illustrating Corrigan’s model about the stages of stigma and the hierarchy of disclosure. Consider Delle’s experience against that model.

· Briefly explain Corrigan’s model of the stages of stigma and his recommendations and hierarchy about recovery. 

· Explain whether Delle’s experience follows that model. Use specific examples to argue your perspective. If you agree, identify which stage of recovery Delle is in. 

· Analyze Delle’s reports about his own experiences with both types of stigma. Provide specific examples, and in your analysis consider the following questions: 

 

o Does one type of stigma predominate in his talk?

o Which of Delle’s personal values or beliefs were challenged by his internalizations about his own illness and help-seeking?

o What strengths does he exhibit?

o What was the primary benefit of his diagnosis?

o Do you think his experience would be different if his culture was different? Explain why or why not?
