Justify your evaluations with both cost information as well as adult learning theory.

Write a paper in which you address the following:

Part 1: Training Method and Justification

  • For each of the trainings, you will:
    1. Describe the training and delivery method.
    2. Describe the assessment method for each training.
    3. Justify your choice of delivery method and training.
      1. Use as much concrete data as possible, including:
        1. Time to develop the training or to implement a COTS training product.
        2. Cost of the training method (cost to develop or purchase, as well as incidental costs, such as the need for additional equipment, software, or space).
        3. Cost of assessment.
        4. Cost of employee time in training.
      2. Include adult learning theory in your justification

Note: Feel free to use a different training method and assessment method for each training.

Part 2: Assess Training Effectiveness

4. Describe how you will evaluate the effectiveness of each training.

  • Justify your evaluations with both cost information as well as adult learning theory.

Use least three quality references from the past two (2) years, no more than one of which you have used previously.

  • Include as much real-world information as possible on the COTS products and other products as they pertain to your proposal.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  1. Examine trends and issues in assessment of adult learners.
  2. Determine the costs and benefits of assessment programs.
  3. Analyze models used for assessment.
  4. Evaluate an assessment tool, with at least one authentic assessment technique, for adult learners.

In 250-500 words, write a personal philosophy of student engagement and classroom management (adapted from your Topic 1 assignment) that includes:

  • A description of your overall classroom management philosophy aligned to personal beliefs you hold that support it.
  • An overview of how you will manage your learning environment in order to engage students.
  • How you will collaborate with students, families, and colleagues to build a safe, positive learning climate of openness, mutual respect, support, and inquiry.
  • How you will take a leadership role advocating for meeting the needs of students, and enacting system change.

Write a one-page letter to send to families at the beginning of the school year introducing yourself and explaining your classroom management plan and how you will maintain ongoing communication with students and families to build positive school-home relationships.

In 250-500 words, describe how you will actively and equitably engage students by establishing procedures, routines, and expectations. Include 4-5 specific procedures, routines, or expectations you will implement in the classroom. (These procedures or routines may be revised from previous assignments, or they may be new.)

Write a 100-250 word description of three strategies you plan to utilize in your future classroom that will address limiting and mitigating the effects of disruptive and off-task behaviors in the classroom, including rewards and consequences.

Support your findings with a minimum of three scholarly resources.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide,

Describe the lenses and explain how/why they represent a promising combination. Why are they worthwhile to discuss in relationship to one another?

Essay 2 builds on the analytical skills you displayed in Essay 1, asking you to deepen those skills by applying two lenses to the readings. You will also be adding in your most recent reading, Heart of Darkness—a key piece of 20th-century literature. Exploring the intersection of two different themes is an opportunity to narrow your scope even further, giving you a stronger foundation for analysis. You need to take the same scholarly approach as you did in Essay 1: use APA citation style, and include a narrow, arguable thesis statement, separate supporting ideas with topic sentences/transitions, and a dynamic conclusion.

For Essay 2, write a 1000- to 1500-word essay in which you

  1. Select two of the themes of Postcolonial theory that you would like to explore. These will be the lenses through which you look at the literature. You are more than welcome to stick to the same initial theme you chose for Essay 1 and add in a new one, or you could choose two entirely new themes to apply.
  2. Describe the lenses and explain how/why they represent a promising combination. Why are they worthwhile to discuss in relationship to one another? How do they inform one another? How does the combination limit your approach in helpful, constructive, or opportune ways? Be specific.

This should be the bulk of your writing. How do the themes function within the story? What specific moments in each story are valuable for drawing deeper insights about the intersection between the two themes? Your analysis should include specific textual evidence, not simply general statements about the plot elements or characters. Ultimately, the analysis should answer this question: what do these three stories reveal about how these themes combine? What insight(s) can we take from the readings that apply beyond the literature? Apply that lens to The Epic of Gilgamesh, The Tempest, and Heart of Darkness.

Develop three measurable learning objectives that align to your selected standard.

We will begin the process of developing assessments for an instructional plan using the backward design model. In this model, we begin with the end in mind; therefore, when developing an instructional plan, we begin with the standards that we use to develop measurable learning objectives to ensure alignment. Once that is finalized, educators then create assessments before writing the instructional plans as this will ensure alignment between how we measure learner knowledge with instruction. Assignments in Weeks 1 through 5 will all be used in your Final Paper, so be sure to review your instructor feedback to make any necessary revisions in Week 6.

Prepare

Prior to beginning work on this assignment,

· Review the Weekly Lesson for Week 1 that provides more explicit details on how to create measurable learning objectives.

· Read Chapter 4: Learning Objectives, Assessment and Instruction. Be sure to complete the activity at the end of 4.1 that will help you identify measurable learning objectives.

· Explore the following article about the backward design model (Links to an external site.) Understanding by Design (Links to an external site.).

· Watch the following video about the backward design model (Links to an external site.) Grant Wiggins – Understanding by design (1 of 2 (Links to an external site.)).

· Review the Read the Standards (Links to an external site.) web page.

· Review the  Bloom’s Video (Links to an external site.) and Bloom’s Wheel (Links to an external site.) to help you with writing measurable learning objectives.

Reflect

Consider the following:

· Teaching does not only happen in classrooms. There are many avenues in which you might need to know how to teach and assess learners. Consider what area of teaching you envision yourself. Do you see yourself as a classroom teacher, a corporate or health trainer, a military trainer, for example?

· Consider what type of learners you would be teaching and the content area of interest.

Content Instructions (Due Monday, Day 7)

Complete the following:

· Fill out the Week 1 Developing Learning Objectives Assignment Template (see Weekly Lesson for Week 1 for an exemplar). The Week 1 template is what you will submit to Waypoint.

· Highlight your chosen path that you foresee yourself teaching in (ex. PreK, K through 12, Military Trainer, Corporate Trainer, Health Trainer, etc.)

· Copy and paste a selected standard from the following options:

o Pre-K standards of your state.

o Common Core State Standards (CCSS) that are for math and reading (see Read the Standards (Links to an external site.)).

o K-12 standards of your state if you do not follow the CCSS or if you choose a different content area than math and reading.

o Standards that are outside the discipline of the public schools (e.g., military, corporate, healthcare, etc.)

· Develop three measurable learning objectives that align to your selected standard.

o Check out Week 1 Weekly Lesson, which will provide additional support for developing your objectives.

o Use the Bloom’s Wheel (Links to an external site.) to help you create three learning objectives within three different cognitive (thinking) levels. Be sure to label each objective with the level of thinking from Bloom’s Taxonomy.

o Select from the verbs in the middle section of the wheel when writing your measurable learning objectives. Having measurable objectives makes writing your assessments so much easier!
