Bail Reform in New York State

January 1st, 2020, a series of criminal justice reforms will go into effect in New York State. The changes to the Bail Statute have proved to be the most controversial. Please conduct research and identify 4 articles that discuss the change to the bail law. All articles must have been published in the last year. Blog entries and letters to the editor do not count, but columnists and editorials can be used.

In a 5 page, double spaced memo, first describe the change to the new bail law. Then summarize the position each article takes on the issue of bail reform, and make sure to include its strongest arguments. After summarizing each, describe for the reader your view of the benefits and weaknesses of the new law.
