Acute pancreatitis

A patient with clinical signs and symptoms of acute pancreatitis had an extremely elevated serum lipase and an undetectable serum amylase. When amylase was measured in urine, it was extremely elevated.
1. Does this man have acute pancreatitis?
2. What would explain the discrepant results?
