Find an experimental research study on the topic chosen in Week One for your Final Research Proposal. You may choose to include an experimental study which was included in the literature review you used in the Week One assignment by searching the reference list for experimental research studies on the topic. However, it is also acceptable to find and include an experimental research study on the topic that is not included in that literature review.

Identify the specific experimental research design used in the study. Summarize the main points of the experimental research study including information on the hypothesis, sampling strategy, research design, statistical analysis, results, and conclusion(s). Evaluate the published experimental research study focusing on and identifying the specific threats to validity that apply to the chosen study. Explain whether or not these threats were adequately addressed by the researchers. Describe how the researchers applied ethical principles in the research study.

The text authors believe that despite all the ethnic, cultural, religious, racial, and national differences, people can learn to become more understanding, respectful, and tolerant of each other. In spite of the fact that cross-cultural psychology alone cannot solve the profound problems facing the human race, the authors purport that knowledge coupled with goodwill certainly can create a positive psychological climate that might eventually generate useful solutions (Shiraev & Levy, 2017).

In consideration of the above statement and this week’s reading assignments, discuss how cross-cultural psychology and critical thinking will serve to enhance your own academic, professional, and personal growth. For this discussion, you will take on the role of a psychologist who was recently assigned two new clients. You will examine psychological assessment information presented in two different formats: a computer generated interpretative report of personality test results for the patient Mr. I and a psychological report written by a licensed psychologist for the patient Ms. S. In your initial post, you will examine the personality assessment instruments used in each report.

In your next meeting with Ms. S, you will be required to give her a copy of the psychological assessment report and discuss the results with her by explaining the psychological concepts effectively observing appropriate professional standards. In order to share this discussion with your colleagues, you will create a screencast of a three- to five-minute assessment feedback session, which must walk the client through the report and summarize the most pertinent information from the psychological assessment report in language your client can understand. In your initial post, provide an evaluation of the contents of both psychological evaluations in terms of ethical standards and the professionalism of the interpretation of the testing and assessment data presented. Write an analysis of the psychometric methodologies employed in the development and validation of the MMPI-2-RF personality test used with both clients. Develop a list of at least two additional tests of personality or emotional functioning to administer to the two clients that demonstrate acceptable validity. Justify your inclusion of each additional assessment measure in terms of the validity of the assessment measure and your clients’ presenting concerns, diagnosis, and prognosis.

As we approach the end of the course, it is time start putting all the pieces together.  Before starting this week’s assignment, review the instructions for the final project found in week five. Using the Community Center Proposal Template and the outline you created in week three, you will complete the following steps:

 

  • Write the introduction to your proposal (One paragraph)
  • Add the three physical development activities that you created in week two into the appropriate room in the template. Make sure to incorporate any instructor feedback.
  • Add the cognitive development activity and toy that you created in week three into the appropriate room in the template.  Make sure to incorporate any instructor feedback
  • Select the room for which you have done the least amount of work thus far, and complete all the required elements in that room by addressing the prompts in the template.
  • Start your reference page with any resources you have used thus far.

 

At this point, your proposal should be approximately 35-40% completed.  During the final week of the course, you will finish all the rooms of the Community Child Development Center Proposal, write your conclusion, and complete your reference page.  You may work ahead and complete more sections or rooms during week four if you wish to receive feedback from your instructor, but you are required to complete, at minimum, the five elements listed above.
