Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style  Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is required.

Review the theories of Elkind, Erikson, Kohlberg, Marcia, and Piaget in Chapters 16 and 17 of the text.

Interview a person of your choice (they may be your parents, relatives, or friends) using the questions approved by your instructor. These  questions must address the following:

  • Cognitive, physical, and psychosocial development during the interviewee’s adolescence
  • How peers influenced the interviewee during adolescence
  • What people and/or events influenced the interviewee’s development of morals
  • How the interviewee’s experiences as an adolescent formulate who they are as an adult.

Note:  American Psychological Association (APA) ethical guidelines indicate that interviewees have the right to refuse to answer any question posed to them by an interviewer. Please ensure that your interviewees are aware of this, and do not force them to answer where the opportunity to reply has been refused.

Pick one of the theories reviewed in Chapters 16 and 17 of the text.

Write a paper of 750-1,000 words, discussing the selected theory and how it relates to your interview. Include the following in your paper:

  • A description of the selected theory
  • A description of your interviewee (gender, age, ethnicity, etc.)
  • How the interviewee’s responses illustrate the selected theory. Support your response with examples.

Include at least three scholarly references, in addition to the text, in your paper.

Beyond Informed Consent

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read the Fisher (2009) article, “Replacing ‘Who is the Client?’ With a Different Ethical Question” and the APA’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct: Including 2010 Amendments (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. paying special attention to standard 3.11.

Informed consent is an important ethical component of research and practice. It is not, however, always sufficient or appropriate for consulting, program evaluation, job effectiveness assessment, or other psychological services delivered to or through organizations because it does not always address all the necessary elements of a given situation. These facts do not negate our responsibility as psychology professionals to inform clients and those who may be impacted by our services. In the discussion you will address these issues through the following case study.

You are an industrial organizational (I/O) psychologist and have been hired to evaluate a company’s “Work From Home” policy to see if it has increased company production. In addition to a review of the employee records, the evaluation needs to include interviews with supervisors and employees on the value and limits of the policy. Since informed consent as typically considered in clinical, counseling, and research settings will not be sufficient in this instance, you will need to inform all supervisors and employees about your services.

In your initial post, briefly analyze and define who the client is in this case study. Assess your professional role as the I/O psychologist and your responsibility to the client as defined. Apply the APA’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. to this scenario, specifically addressing what information should be provided to all supervisors and employees. Explain how you would disseminate this information and ensure understanding amongst all stakeholders. Elaborate on how you would establish trust with the employees, protect employee identities, and ensure the results are used in an ethical manner.

Post by Day 3 a brief description of two OD interventions and a rationale for each intervention selected. Also, give an explanation of two factors to be considered when selecting an intervention.

When planning for change, a consulting professional needs to carefully consider the intervention strategies that best fit an organization’s change goals and the unique characteristics of the internal and external environments. Yet change and interventions affect not only the organization but also the people within the organization. When an intervention directly affects employees’ work relationships, work activity, work knowledge, and workspace, the commitment and involvement of those to which the intervention is aimed are critically important. Consultants must make part-scientific, part-artistic, part-political choices when selecting effective interventions that match organizational change needs.

Organizational consultants may be called on to determine under which circumstances an intervention target is appropriate. This requires comparing the effectiveness of intervention targets based on a range of internal and external factors. ODs then evaluate the potential an intervention target has for improving organizational performance and health.

To prepare:

  • Review this week’s Learning Resources.
  • Consider appropriate OD intervention strategies for different systems.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 3 a brief description of two OD interventions and a rationale for each intervention selected. Also, give an explanation of two factors to be considered when selecting an intervention.

PART 2- If money and time were not an issue, what emerging issues would you like to research in multicultural psychology?

PART 3- Review this week’s course materials and learning activities, and reflect on your learning so far this week. Respond to one or more of the following prompts in one to two paragraphs:

  1. Provide citation and reference to the material(s) you discuss. Describe what you found interesting regarding this topic, and why.
  2. Describe how you will apply that learning in your daily life, including your work life.
  3. Describe what may be unclear to you, and what you would like to learn.

What diagnostic impression do you reach based on the information gathered about Johnny? What is your rationale for ruling-out other diagnoses?

Read the Case Study for “Johnny” and review/score the DSM-5 Parent/Guardian-Rated Level 1 Cross-Cutting Symptom Measure—Child Age 6–17 form completed by the mother (attached). Consider the following when reviewing the form:

  1. What information do you gather from the data in this instrument?
  2. What will you do next—based on the information from the Level 1 Measure?

Utilize the DSM-5 Parent/Guardian-Rated Level 1 Cross-Cutting Symptom Measure—Child Age 6–17 measure to differentiate between issues associated with typical childhood behaviors and clinically-significant psychiatric phenomena (psychopathology). Consider the following when differentiating between the issues:

  1. Based on your findings, would you assess that “Johnny” needs a formal referral to a pediatric psychiatrist/psychologist/counselor?

Assign the appropriate DSM diagnoses for “Johnny” in descending order, from the dominant, to the least dominant. Consider the following when assigning the DSM diagnosis:

  1. What diagnostic impression do you reach based on the information gathered about Johnny? What is your rationale for ruling-out other diagnoses?

Write a 500-750-word paper about Johnny and your findings. Include the following in your paper:

  1. The appropriate DSM diagnoses for “Johnny” in descending order, from the dominant, to the least dominant and rationale.
  2. An explanation regarding why other diagnoses were excluded and rationale.
  3. A discussion regarding if you would assess that “Johnny” needs a formal referral to a pediatric psychiatrist/psychologist/counselor and rationale for your choice.
  4. At least five scholarly references in addition to the textbook in your paper to substantiate your findings.
