Describe what it was like to      answer the questions, your thoughts as you went through the exam, and how      you reflected on your final MMSE score.

Please no plagiarism and make sure you are able to access all resources on your own before you bid. Main references come from Neukrug, E. S., & Fawcett, R. C. (2015) and/or Encyclopedia of Counseling (2017). You need to have scholarly support for any claim of fact or recommendation regarding treatment. APA format also requires headings. Use the prompt each week to guide your heading titles and organize the content of your initial post under the appropriate headings. Remember to use scholarly research from peer-reviewed articles that are current. I have attached scoring sheet and test results, so you can see how to make full points. Please follow the instructions to get full credit for the discussion. I need this completed by 01/14/20 at 4pm.

DISCUSSION POSTS— For your Main discussion posts, I require that all posts be a MINIMUM of 250 words. The main post must contain a minimum of two (2) different references from a peer reviewed journal or scholarly book or scholarly website. It is a good idea to use your Learning Resources each week. Wikipedia does not count as a scholarly website since the information is not validated.

Discussion – Week 8

Mini Mental State Exam

What is it like to be assessed? For this Discussion, you take the role of a client and experience taking the Mini Mental State Exam (MMSE). As you go through this experience, consider what it feels like to be assessed, and to be a client. You will also complete the Jung Typology Test and reflect on your results. You will post your reflections and insights.

To Prepare:

  • Review the Mini Mental State      Exam (MMSE) video program in the Learning Resources for this week.
  • Complete the Mini Mental Status      Exam on blank paper by responding as if you are the client. Record all      your answers.
  • Retrieve the Folstein Scoring      Sheet from this week’s resources and score your answers, noting that you      actually completed two tasks that were similar, (i.e., math and spelling      (maximum possible score of 5 for each section). You are to use the higher      of those two sections to include in the total score.
  • Take the Jung Typology      assessment online. Score your answers and save your results.

By Day 3 of Week 8

  • In 1-2 paragraphs, share what      the experience was like to be asked the questions in the Mini Mental State      Exam. It seemed to be pretty easy.
  • Describe what it was like to      answer the questions, your thoughts as you went through the exam, and how      you reflected on your final MMSE score. I felt the questions were easy to answer. I was      thinking that how is this a mental state exam. My score was 29 because I      felt like I didn’t recall the 3 words in the order that it was given.
  • What was it like to take the      Jung assessment online? Do you feel that it describes you? Some of the questions I was like unsure on how to      answer because I felt like it depend on the situation on how I would      answer. I do feel like it describe me for the most part but I don’t feel      like I am judging.
  • What insights did you gain in      terms of how it felt to be assessed?      With the MMSE I was comfortable but with the Jung assessment I more      uncomfortable because I felt like the choices were not what I would pick.
  • How do you imagine clients may      react? I think clients would find the      Jung more difficult than the MMSE.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources. Identify current relevant literature to support your work.

Which theoretical approaches are used in the video to describe adolescent behavior? Please give an example for each approach.

Once again, you will view a TED Talk video that is directly related to the course content this week and then reflect on what you have learned in a graded blog activity. This introductory activity helps learners to think about and explore the meaningfulness of the course content covered in the module, with a focus on the biological and social perspectives of human development.

By successfully completing this reflection activity, learners demonstrate Module Outcome 1: Illustrate the physical changes adolescents experience and how sexuality develops during the adolescent years.

Watch the video, The Mysterious Workings of the Adolescent Brain (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. [Video file, 14:26 mins]. Briefly reflect on your own thoughts and ideas about the content of the video by writing answers to the following:

· What types of physical changes do adolescents experience?

· How do these physical changes influence sexuality during the teenage years?

· Which theoretical approaches are used in the video to describe adolescent behavior? Please give an example for each approach.

· Based on what you learned from the video and the readings in your text, describe and give examples of some threats to the well-being of teenagers.

Consult the Discussion Posting Guide for information about writing your discussion posts. It is recommended that you write your post in a document first. Check your work and correct any spelling or grammatical errors. When you are ready to make your initial post, click on “Reply.” Then copy/paste the text into the message field, and click Post Reply.

To respond to a peer, click Reply beneath her or his post and continue as with an initial post.

Evaluation

hich theoretical approaches (psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive, humanistic, contextual, evolutionary) are evident in the article you read? Why (give at least one example for each approach you write about)?

Part 1 and Part 2, needs to be at least 250 words each part, APA style

M4D1: Special Needs in School Age Children and Intelligence: Nature versus Nurture

Module 4

During the middle school years, differences in learning and cognitive ability become more obvious for some children. It can be helpful to explore some of these differences and begin understanding their impact on all domains of development. To become more comfortable with reading and comprehension of research articles and applying developmental perspectives, you will read an article and provide some evidence for why you think the author(s) is approaching special needs from a specific perspective.

The purposes of this discussion are:

· Help you become more familiar with scholarly articles

· Learn about special needs

· Apply theoretical perspectives of human development

· Develop solutions to a real world challenge

· Support your thoughts and views on intelligence

By successfully completing this discussion activity, you will demonstrate Module Outcome 2: Describe the special needs that may become apparent during the school years and how can they be met, Module Outcome 3: Summarize cognitive development during the school years, according to the major theoretical approaches, and Module Outcome 4: Discuss the concept of intelligence as it relates to the nature-nurture controversy.

For full credit, please complete both parts of this discussion by replying to both parts.

Part #1:

Read ONE of the following articles:

· How physicians support children with disabilities and their families: Roles, responsibilities and collaborative partnerships. (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.

· UTILIZATION OF SCHOOL NURSES DURING THE EVALUATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF CHILDREN WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS. [PDF, file size 67 KB] (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.

· Health, Education, Advocacy, and Law: An Innovative Approach to Improving Outcomes for Low-Income Children With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. [PDF, file size 321 KB] (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.

Next, answer the following questions:

· What special needs or challenges were discussed in the article you read?

· What aspects of development (physical, cognitive, social/personality) are impacted by the special needs you identified above? Provide examples.

· Which theoretical approaches (psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive, humanistic, contextual, evolutionary) are evident in the article you read? Why (give at least one example for each approach you write about)?

· What solutions can you identify for effectively meeting the needs identified above?

Part #2:

Mary Jo Bane and Christopher Jencks argue that if intelligence is inherited there is nothing the schools or anyone can do to improve a child’s chances in life. Below are five “myths” Bane and Jencks say are commonly accepted as true.

1. IQ tests are the best measure of human intelligence.

2. The poor are poor because they have low IQs. Those with high IQs end up in well-paid jobs.

3. Your IQ is overwhelmingly determined by your genetic endowment.

4. The main reason African American children and poor, white children have low IQ scores is that they have “bad” genes.

5. Improving the quality of the schools will go a long way toward wiping out the differences in IQ and school achievement and, therefore, in children’s life chances.

Choose two of five statements above. Do you agree or disagree? Respond in writing by sharing your own experiences, and then supporting each of your responses with evidence from a scholarly article published within the last 5 years. Use APA format to properly cite and reference the scholarly articles you use.

What would a cultural relativist say is the right approach to the dilemma? Why would that kind of relativist say that? Is that approach correct?

 Cultural Relativism and Moral Action

Required Resources
Read/review the following resources for this activity:

  • Textbook: Chapter 1, 2
  • Lesson
  • Minimum of 2 scholarly sources in addition to the textbook

Instructions
For this assignment propose a scenario where you or someone you know are confronted with a moral dilemma relating to cultural diversity and multiculturalism. It cannot be the same as what was covered in the week one discussion.

Cultural diversity refers to religious, sexual, racial, and other forms of social difference. A moral dilemma is a situation in which one must make a decision between two or more options such that the options involve seemingly ethical and/or unethical conduct. Address the following questions:

  • What was the situation? What did the dilemma involve?
  • What would a subjective moral relativist say is the right approach to the dilemma? Why would that kind of relativist say that?
  • What would a cultural relativist say is the right approach to the dilemma? Why would that kind of relativist say that? Is that approach correct?
  • What did you the person confronting the dilemma decide to do? What moral justification did they give? Is that approach morally correct?
  • Was there an objective moral truth (the objectively right thing to do) in this situation? Why or why not?

Remember, the dilemma should be detailed with description and dialogue. Regard the questions as requirements. This is an essay, so rather than simply providing a list of brief answers to questions, provide an in-depth reflection regarding a difficult ethical situation..

Cite the textbook and incorporate outside sources, including citations.
