What would you ask about it? For the second paragraph, suppose you are a theologian defending that religion. What would you say about it?

Assignment #1: M1 Theology and Religious Studies

Instructions

Pick a religion, preferably not your own.  Then write two paragraphs.  For the first paragraph, suppose you are studying that religion as a religious studies major.  What would you ask about it? For the second paragraph, suppose you are a theologian defending that religion. What would you say about it?  The goal of this assignment is to show that you know the difference between religious studies major and a theologian.

Limit your answer to one or two sentences for each question.  Here is an example.  Suppose you are looking at Islam.  In the first paragraph, religious studies students might ask what the meaning of the Ramadan fast is to Moslems.  In the second paragraph, a Moslem theologian might argue why to keep the Ramadan fast.

Your answer should be between 150 and 300 words. The assignment must be typed in MS Word, where you can check grammar and spelling. After completing your assignment in Word, save the document, then click on the “Add a File” button to attach the file and submit your assignment. Keep in mind that only one file is allowed per submission, and only one submission is allowed. What special precautions or practices should a private practitioner adopt in order to minimize professional liability and ensure that their treatment of clients remains soundly within the boundaries of professional practice standards? The American Counseling Association as well as individual state counseling associations (i.e., ICA, AzCA) provide a variety of resources to clinicians. Choose either the ACA or your state’s counseling association. What are its member benefits, activities, services to members, and current issue? How could membership be especially helpful to the private practitioner? Summarize what the ACA Code of Ethics says about the following: report writing, record keeping, and service reimbursement.

Assignment: Scholar Practitioner Project Assignment: Developing an Addiction Treatment Plan Creating an addiction treatment plan is an individualized, dynamic process that begins at the first meeting with the client and evolves throughout the complete course of treatment in response to changing needs. An addiction treatment plan addresses the holistic needs of the individual. It includes the client’s immediate needs while in treatment as well as long-term needs once he or she returns to the community. For this Assignment, review the resources for this week and consider the methods by which helping professionals can develop aftercare plans to prevent relapse. Use the “Instructions for Scholar Practitioner Project (SPP) Case Study” document to develop your own addiction treatment plan using the “SPP Treatment Plan Template”. Assignment: Using the “SPP Treatment Plan Template” (attached), create a 12-month addiction treatment plan for Marge. Begin with her admission into residential treatment (“Counseling Session 1” media, attached) and proceed throughout her stay (“Counseling Session 2” media, attached). Continue for the next 12 months as you determine how her treatment could evolve. Marge’s addiction treatment plan should include the following: o Course of residential treatment o Plans for discharge from residential treatment o Aftercare plans for the next 12 months o All aspects of the case management of Marge’s treatment, including – counseling/treatment – family – social – vocational – legal – mental health -medical -other areas that might be important to her continued recovery References Doweiko, H. Assignment: Scholar Practitioner Project Assignment: Developing an Addiction Treatment Plan

Creating an addiction treatment plan is an individualized, dynamic process that begins at the first meeting with the client and evolves throughout the complete course of treatment in response to changing needs.

Compose a two-paragraph essay in which you examine possible violations of Walden’s academic integrity policy. Study the two scenarios below, and explain in your own words whether violations of Walden’s policy occurred.

Now that you have studied Walden’s policy on academic integrity and learned about different types of plagiarism, you will apply this knowledge when analyzing possible violations of academic integrity. This exercise will help you begin developing your skills of recognizing violations of academic integrity.

To prepare for this Assignment:

Think about Walden’s policy on academic integrity, and review the other resources from Week 1.

The Assignment:

Compose a two-paragraph essay in which you examine possible violations of Walden’s academic integrity policy. Study the two scenarios below, and explain in your own words whether violations of Walden’s policy occurred. Organize your paper by writing one paragraph for each scenario. You are not required to integrate sources in your paper. However, if you do use source material, please do your best to cite it properly, per APA style. You will work on developing your citation skills in the coming weeks.

  • Student A was told by his instructor that half of his essay matched a paper previously submitted in a Walden course. Did the student violate Walden’s academic integrity policy?
  • Student B used plagiarism-detection software called SafeAssign to check for accidental plagiarism. The student found a 30% match with source material. Did the student violate Walden’s academic integrity policy?

By Day 7

Submit your Assignment. Please use the Walden Course Paper template when formatting your paper. The template can be found in the Week 1 Resources. Assignments submitted without using the Course Paper template may not be accepted by your Instructor. Finally, make sure to use SafeAssign to screen your work before submitting it for Instructor review. A SafeAssign tutorial can be found in the Week 1 Resources.

Consider what would be the most important information to share with your colleagues about that step. Together the class will create a research plan for evaluating the rite of passage program described in the assigned article.

About 15 years ago, before evidence-based practice became a standard to which to aspire, a professor found an article describing a treatment program for substance-abusing African-American women that incorporated their children and aimed to preserve their families. The program was built around principles of African-centered theory. The professor thought the program appeared well designed and heartily urged students to study the article and possibly find ways to imitate the program ideas, if not the program itself. A few years later, the professor, having continued her education, especially in the area of research, searched for a follow-up on the program, perhaps reporting outcomes and evidence of effectiveness. No research evidence on the program appears in the scholarly journals. In fact, no evidence that the program continues to exist at this time has been found. The fact that what appeared to be a promising practice approach did not endure or have the opportunity to benefit from evaluation is unfortunate.

Note: This week you will work as a class to create a plan for evaluating the rite of passage program described in the assigned article. Each member of the class will be assigned one step of the research process:

1.Research problems and questions
2.Finding and using existing knowledge
3.Focused research questions and research hypothesis
4.Research methods
5.Sampling issues and options
6.Measurement
7.Data acquisition
8.Data collection instruments
9.Analyzing data
10.Disseminating research findings

To prepare for this Discussion, read the Poitier et al. study and then revisit what you have learned about your assigned step of the research process. Consider what would be the most important information to share with your colleagues about that step. Together the class will create a research plan for evaluating the rite of passage program described in the assigned article.
