Identify and evaluate commonalities   and differences in demographic variables and psychological profiles between subtypes   of victims that may present in this population.

This paper has to be written on Sexual Abuse Trauma (It was approved from the Professor)…All relevant papers are attached…please use other sources as well if you want.

PLEASE NO PLAGIARISM!  APA FORMAT!

Working with the population for which you were approved in formulating the bibliography in Module 1, follow the general guidelines for your Victim Population Analysis paper outlined below.

Tasks:

Read the research literature related to your chosen victim population. Consider the specific aspects that you will cover in your final paper (i.e., trauma, demographics, interaction with criminal justice system, victims’ rights, assessment, evaluation, and treatment). Using the research literature and specifically empirical studies, write a 12- to 14-page paper addressing the following:

· Describe the theoretical and empirical knowledge about psychological trauma and the impact of victimization within this population.

· Identify and evaluate commonalities and differences in demographic variables and psychological profiles between subtypes of victims that may present in this population.

· Compare and contrast empirical research findings related to the assessment and evaluation of victims in this population.

· Compare and contrast empirical research findings related to treatment for victims in this population.

· Define and analyze the role and impact of the criminal justice system on victims within this population.

· Define and analyze the role and impact of past and current legal rights on victims within this population.

· Cite the references appropriately.

Your paper should rely upon scholarly resources from the professional literature. The literature may include the Argosy University online library resources, relevant textbooks, peer-reviewed journal articles, and websites created by professional organizations, agencies, or institutions (.edu, .org, and .gov).

All written assignments and responses should follow APA rules for attributing sources.

Submission Details:

· By the due date assigned, save your paper as M5_A2_Lastname_Firstname.doc and submit it to the Submissions Area.

LASA is worth 300 points and will be graded according to the following rubric.

Explain why this position is the best strategy for selecting research participants. Support your explanation with an example and support from the scholarly literature.

It is often not possible or practical to study an entire population, so researchers draw samples from which they make inferences about a population of interest. In quantitative research, where generalization to a population is typically valued, a researcher’s ability to make such inferences is only as good as the sampling strategy she or he uses to obtain the sample. Once an appropriate sample has been obtained, data collection should involve valid and reliable measures to ensure confidence in the results, as well as the ability to generalize the research outcomes. Although generalization is typically not a goal in qualitative research, sampling is just as important in qualitative and mixed methods research, as is obtaining reliable and valid results. Indeed, for quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research, sampling strategies and accurate data collection methods are critical aspects of the research process.

Specific methods of data collection (e.g., surveys, interviews, observations) produce specific types of data that will answer particular research questions, but not others; so here too, as covered in previous weeks, the research questions inform how the data will be obtained.  Furthermore, the method used to collect the data may impact the reliability and the validity of that data.

For this Discussion, you will first consider sampling strategies. Then, you will turn your attention to data collection methods, including their strengths, limitations, and ethical implications. Last, you will consider measurement reliability and validity in the context of your discipline.

Position A: Probability sampling represents the best strategy for selecting research participants.

Post a restatement of your Position A (above) on sampling strategies. Explain why this position is the best strategy for selecting research participants. Support your explanation with an example and support from the scholarly literature. Next, select a data collection method (e.g., surveys, interviews, observations) and briefly explain at least one strength and at least one limitation. Then, identify a potential ethical issue with this method and describe a strategy to address it. Last, explain the relationship between measurement reliability and measurement validity using an example from your discipline.

Submit a 7-10 page critique and review of the article, which includes the title page and the reference list. Follow the guidelines below: Use the quantitative or qualitative research article that you located and that your instructor approved as part of the Week 5 assignment.

Assignment: Article Review and Critique

By now, you should be aware that the findings from a research study are only part of the story. As a consumer, hoping to inform practice by use of an evidence base, you want to know much more. A sound research study includes all the steps highlighted in previous weeks: reviewing existing literature, focusing a research question, choosing a qualitative or quantitative method for answering the question, designing the study including selection of data collection procedures and/or measures, procedures used, data analysis plan, and findings. In addition, the study commonly discusses how ethical concerns were addressed and acknowledges the limitations of the study. For this assignment, you review a published research study with two purposes in mind:

  • Observing the structure and content of the article
  • Comparing the content of the article to the recommended content of sections for a research study.
By Day 7

Submit a 7-10 page critique and review of the article, which includes the title page and the reference list. Follow the guidelines below:

  1. Use the quantitative or qualitative research article that you located and that your instructor approved as part of the Week 5 assignment.
  2. Provide an APA reference for the article you select.
  3. If you selected a quantitative research study, use the “Quantitative Article Review and Critique. If you selected a qualitative study, use the “Qualitative Article Review and Critique.” Respond to all the questions.

Be sure to include the questions in your critique. This will cause your Turnitin report to show high similarity to other students’ papers. However, do not be concerned about that. Do, however, appropriately paraphrase and cite specific details from the article you review.
