Original Research 10 Strategic Points Draft

Due Date: Sep 11, 2017

Details:

In the prospectus, proposal and dissertation there are ten key or strategic points that need to be clear, simple, correct, and aligned to ensure the research is doable, valuable, and credible. These points, which provide a guide or vision for the research. The ten strategic points emerge from researching literature on a topic, which is based on or aligned with, the defined need in the literature as well as the researcher’s personal passion, future career purpose, and degree area. You have practiced identifying the ten points in published studies, the next required skill is to define the ten points for an original as yet conducted research study. In this assignment, you will consider a potential gap in the literature that is emerging from your ongoing reading in your field of interest including the two specific articles you selected for the previous assignment, and you will draft the 10 Strategic Points for a potential dissertation research study based on that identified gap.

General Requirements:

Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:

  • Important note: Successful completion of this assignment does not indicate that this topic and the related 10 Strategic Points have been approved for use as your dissertation research study topic.
  • This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
  • Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. The APA Style Guide is located in the Student Success Center.
  • You are required to submit this assignment to Turnitin.

Directions:

Consider a potential gap in the literature that is emerging from your ongoing reading in your field of interest including no less than five specific research studies. Using the information from those research studies, state the potential gap that you identified and describe how it emerged from the studies you read.

Based on that identified gap, draft the 10 Strategic Points for a potential dissertation research study.

Choose one of your classmates’ posts and using the letters of either their first, middle or last name, create a set and write it in roster notation.

Sets and Subsets

The ability to classify items into sets is important in many contexts. For example, the registrar of a university puts students into classes. Each class can be considered a set. It can also be considered a subset of the entire student population. The admissions officer puts students into majors. Again, each major can be considered a subset of the entire student population. At graduation, students need to be put into groups with similar GPAs for honors, groups with similar degrees, or groups from different schools within the university. On this Unit’s Discussion Board, you will investigate sets, subsets, and proper subsets making at least three posts as described below.

Post 1

  • Using your first, middle, and last name, create a universal set and write it in roster notation. If you do not have a middle name, use your first and last name only.
  • List all the subsets of your universal set.
  • How many subsets did you list? How do you know how many subsets a set will have?
  • List all the proper subsets of your universal set. Are all subsets of a set also proper subsets of a set? Why or why not?

Review an example of a response for this Discussion.

Post 2

  • Choose one of your classmates’ posts and using the letters of either their first, middle or last name, create a set and write it in roster notation.
  • Determine the number of distinct subsets of the set.
  • Determine the number of distinct proper subsets of the set.

Review an example of a response for this Discussion

Post 3

  • Watch the video, “How to Learn Math: Four Key Messages” found here:https://www.youcubed.org/resources/four-boosting-messages-jo-students/. Share something from the video that you think is helpful. How do you think it can help you in this class?

Discussion Guidelines

In this unit’s Discussion, you will interact with your classmates on the course content. Remember, your goal for Discussion Assignments is to ensure that:

  • Responses are on topic, original, and contribute to the quality of the Discussion.
  • Responses make frequent, informed references to unit material.
  • Responses are clearly written.
  • You submit two or more Discussion Board responses to classmates as described in the Discussion Question that are thoughtful and advance the Discussion.

Keep in mind that when you post, you should include references to the textbook and any material found online. The class is all about sharing knowledge, so use Discussions as a way of creating a community resource for yourself and your classmates.

Please response to patrick post:

Name: Patrick Michael Hogan

Universal Set:

U={Patrick,Michael,Hogan}

Subsets:

{Patrick,Michael,Hogan}, {Patrick,Michael}, {Patrick,Hogan}, {Michael, Hogan}, {Patrick}, {Michael}, {Hogan}, {}

There are 8 Subsets.

Proper Subsets:

{Patrick,Michael}, {Patrick, Hogan}, {Michael, Hogan}, {Patrick}, {Michael}, {Hogan}, {}

Not every subset of a set is a proper set. This can be seen in the example from the book which states “consider C = {car, bus, train} and D = {train, car, bus}. Set C is a subset of set D, C ⊆ D, because every element of set C is also an element of set D. Set C, however, is not a proper subset of set D, C ⊄ D, because set C and set D are equal sets.”

Please also response to Nona:

Name:  Nona Ann Foga

Universal Set:  U= {Nona, Ann, Foga}

Subsets:  {Nona, Ann, Foga}, {Nona, Ann} {Nona, Foga}, {Ann, Foga}, {Nona}, {Ann}, {Foga}, {}

Proper Subsets:  {Nona, Ann}, {Nona, Foga}, {Ann, Foga}, {Nona}, {Ann}, {Foga}, {}

(Hope this what you’re asking for?)

Find a source that is considered conspiracy-pseudoscience and explain why with an example of pseudoscience (minimum of 20 words; question worth 5 points).

4. Ozone is a complex chemical. In the1980’s a big concern was the hole in the ozone. What is the current status of the ozone hole? Now, you might hear more about ozone warning while driving. What causes this and why is it is problem? What references did you use to answer this question? (minimum of 50 words; question worth 5 points)

Completing Research (5 points each- 3 for correct example, 2 for reason) 20 pts total

In science a research paper needs to have authoritative sources and all facts need to be cited. This does not mean you want to have lots of quotes, but instead paraphrase your material and cite the source

Many times if it tempting to use popular media as a source. However, this means it could be biased.

4. Find a quote Create an intext citation (2.5pts)

Describe how three different perspectives (of the eight perspectives discussed in the text) explain relations between personality and culture. Which theory accounts for cultural influences on personality best? Worst?

Part I: Construct Development and Scale Creation

Choose a construct you would like to measure.

Create an operational definition of your construct using at least three peer-reviewed journal articles as references.

Select and list five items used to sample the domain.

Select the method of scaling appropriate for the domain.

Justify why you selected the scaling method you did.

Format the items into an instrument with which you would query respondents.

Justify whether this is an interview or self-report instrument.
