Community Action Proposal Assignment Instructions

Imagine that you, and a few others who have a passion for community awareness and intervention, have been given a 4 million dollar grant to establish a program, center, or organization. This assignment can be a proposal for a marginalized population within your community whose mental health needs have been overlooked or ignored by service providers. The proposal can take the shape of a “Community Action Plan” that you and an interest group would present to the county commissioner or city council, or it can take the shape of a “Proposal for The _______ Center”, in which you describe the population, current issues, needed services, a proposed program, a rationale, a budget, etc. for potential consideration by an interest group, committee, or funding organization.

This must be a 12-15 page paper in current APA format with 12sources. You must incorporate the June & Black and the Scott & Wolfe texts in substantial and meaningful ways and draw on recent journal articles, particularly for the needs analysis, assessment, and program objectives. A minority of your sources may be professional sources that shed light on the issues at hand. Include the following content, using the bold outline headings below as your paper headings, substituting your program/center/organization where appropriate

Explain the potential benefits of the program evaluation that you proposed (both process and outcome). Identify 2–3 concerns that stakeholders might have about your proposed evaluation and how you would address those concerns.

Dudley (2009) points out that social work practice is usually embedded in programs. While you looked at practice evaluation using single-subject design in Week 3, this week, you shift focus to program evaluation. Program evaluation serves many purposes, including accountability to funders and to the public. Often, funding sources such as government agencies or private foundations requires periodic program evaluations. These evaluations can help provide answers to many different questions, and can contribute to improvement of services. There are a variety of program evaluation models that are appropriate for addressing different questions as well as facilitating the collection and analysis of many different types of data.

To prepare for this Discussion, identify a program within an agency with which you are familiar, which could benefit from process evaluation and outcome evaluation. You do not need to identify the agency in your post. Also, review the different evaluation models highlighted in this week’s resources (needs assessment, program monitoring, client satisfaction study, outcome evaluation, or cost benefit study).

Post(2 to 3) a brief summary of the program that you selected. Recommend a program evaluation model that would answer a question relevant to the program. Explain the potential benefits of the program evaluation that you proposed (both process and outcome). Identify 2–3 concerns that stakeholders might have about your proposed evaluation and how you would address those concerns. Then explain 2–3 concerns that stakeholders may have about your proposed program evaluation and how you would address those concerns.

Details:

Synthesis is the act of creating something new from multiple existing entities. Synthesis of research, then, is creating a new idea from existing ideas. It is a process developed through time and practice. In this assignment, you will apply the synthesis process to the journal readings from modules 5-7. Keep in mind that Several of Freud’s early colleagues and supporters splintered away from his model for different reasons.

General Requirements:

Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:

  • Refer to the annotated bibliography and outline you created in the Module 6 assignment along with any feedback from your instructor.
  • Review the journal readings from Modules 5 and 6 of this course. You may wish to create annotations for the readings from Module 7 for use in the synthesis process.
  • This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
  • Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. The APA Style Guide is located in the Student Success Center.
  • You are required to submit this assignment to Turnitin. Refer to the directions in the Student Success Center.

Directions:

Locate the annotated bibliography and outline you created in the Module 6 assignment. Using the outline you developed, the information from the annotated bibliography, and the feedback provided by your instructor, write a paper (2,000-2,250 words) that synthesizes all of the articles assigned in the Modules 5-7 of this course. Do that by including the following:

  1. A statement of common themes addressed in each of the articles.
  2. A statement of the conclusions that can be drawn when the articles are taken together as a single entity. What is the overall message of the group of articles? Focus specifically on the key aspects of Freudian thought which caused these other theorists to distance themselves from Freud’s views and influence. Consider also the major differences among themselves which caused them to diverge from one another.
