Carefully review the Case Description: Mr. I—Psychiatric Inpatient Interpretive Report; this patient was referred to you after being admitted into a psychiatric inpatient facility

Applications In Personality Testing

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read Chapters 8 and 9 in the textbook and carefully review Section 4 of Chapter 7 in the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration (2006) guide, Testing and Assessment: A Guide to Good Practices for Workforce Investment Professionals. In addition, review all the required articles for this week, as well as the Case Description: Mr. I—Psychiatric Inpatient Interpretive Report and the PSY640 Week Four Psychological Assessment Report.

For this discussion, you will take on the role of a psychologist who was recently assigned two new clients. You will examine psychological assessment information presented in two different formats: a computer generated interpretative report of personality test results for the patient Mr. I and a psychological report written by a licensed psychologist for the patient Ms. S. In your initial post, you will examine the personality assessment instruments used in each report.

Carefully review the Case Description: Mr. I—Psychiatric Inpatient Interpretive Report; this patient was referred to you after being admitted into a psychiatric inpatient facility. Write a one-paragraph summary of the computer generated MMPI-2-RF results for Mr. I based on the information in the interpretive report.

In your role as the psychologist who evaluated Ms. S., examine the personality and ability testing results in the PSY640 Week Four Psychological Assessment Report. In your next meeting with Ms. S, you will be required to give her a copy of the psychological assessment report and discuss the results with her by explaining the psychological concepts effectively observing appropriate professional standards. In order to share this discussion with your colleagues, you will create a screencast of a three- to five-minute assessment feedback session, which must walk the client through the report and summarize the most pertinent information from the psychological assessment report in language your client can understand. You may use any screen-casting software you choose. Quick-Start Guides are available for Screencast-O-Matic for your convenience. Once you have created your screencast, include the link in your initial post.

In your initial post, provide an evaluation of the contents of both psychological evaluations in terms of ethical standards and the professionalism of the interpretation of the testing and assessment data presented. Write an analysis of the psychometric methodologies employed in the development and validation of the MMPI-2-RF personality test used with both clients. Develop a list of at least two additional tests of personality or emotional functioning to administer to the two clients that demonstrate acceptable validity. Justify your inclusion of each additional assessment measure in terms of the validity of the assessment measure and your clients’ presenting concerns, diagnosis, and prognosis.

Create a hypothesis for the group’s study. Consider the hypothesis and how the group will define operationally and measure the variables. Describe how the group will obtain a random sample of participants.

Select one of the following forms of media:

  1. Social media
  2. Television/Movies
  3. Video games
  4. Music and/or music videos

Using the selected media, write a 750-1,000-word paper addressing the impact the media has on the cognitive, physical, and psychosocial development during middle childhood. Include the following in your paper:

  1. How the selected media can change brain functioning
  2. How the selected media can disrupt physical development
  3. How the selected media influences social development
  4. How the selected media can positively influence a child
  5. Briefly summarize how Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological systems theory would describe the impact of the selected media on the different systems that effect childhood development (refer to page 37 of the text as a guide).

Include at least three scholarly references, in addition to the text, in your paper.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

This is a Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) assignment.

Before beginning this assignment, each group should submit a filled-in copy of the CLC Agreement Form.

Each CLC team will design a correlational study, groups will need two variables with at least five sets of data. between these two variables: time spent playing video games and aggression.

Then in 600-750 words, do the following:

  1. Create a hypothesis for the group’s study. Consider the hypothesis and how the group will define operationally and measure the variables.
  2. Describe how the group will obtain a random sample of participants.
  3. Assume the study produces a correlation of .56 between the variables. Analyze three possible causal reasons for the relationship.
  4. Submit an SPSS output for the correlational study.

Use two to four scholarly resources to support your explanations.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA 7th Style Guide.

Post a description of the steps you would take to address the situation in an ethical manner. Justify your response with evidence from the Readings.

Discussion 1: Title Protection and Licensure

When one pictures a doctor sitting at her office desk, it seems natural to imagine multiple diplomas on the wall nearby. The notion of doctors displaying their credentials seems indisputable when one considers the importance of professional credibility in instilling trust in patients.

Just as medical practitioners are responsible for achieving and maintaining proper licensure, so are social work professionals. Those who receive the title of “social worker” have met the criteria developed to demonstrate proficiency in meeting the demands associated with the profession.

For this Discussion, research the criteria for assuming the title of social worker in Georgia. Consider benefits offered by title protection and maintenance of licensure standards. Also think about the challenges that title protection and licensure standards may pose.

Post  a description of strengths and challenges associated with title protection and licensure. Describe two strengths and two challenges.

Discussion 2: Ethical Questions

Although students of social work have not yet satisfied the criteria to earn the title of “social worker,” they are bound by the same ethical requirements as titled social workers. Social workers regularly face ethical issues of varying magnitude, and social work students may as well. Some issues seem obvious, while others may emerge in subtle ways.

For this Discussion, select one of the following scenarios. Consider the dilemma described, and imagine how you might feel if you found yourself in a similar situation. Think about the ethical obligations you would have as a social worker or social work student.

Scenario 1

You are a social worker in a public health department providing services to pregnant women. As part of your duties, you provide parenting education, support, and connection to community resources, and you follow up with the families and their newborns for six months after birth. Ms. C has been a client of yours during two pregnancies in the last three years. She has a 15 year-old, a nine year-old, a three year-old, and a newborn. On this day, you are making a routine visit to Ms. C, who lives in an older mobile home in a rural area of the county. You take with you a newly hired social worker who is in training. When you arrive at the house, you find that it is clean and the two older girls are busy doing their homework. The three year-old is playing, and Ms. C is feeding the baby.

During the visit, the new social worker asks Ms. C whether she is looking for work. When you discreetly ask her about birth control, the social worker remarks, motioning to the 15 year-old daughter, “You better get her on birth control if you do not want more babies around here.” Ms. C does not respond to the other social worker, instead maintaining her focus on you. You can tell that she is bothered by the remark about her daughter.

Scenario 2

You are at lunch with some of your social work colleagues at a mental health center.
While you are eating lunch, one of your colleagues says, “So, none of you can beat my morning. I had a borderline in my office who was definitely off her meds. She kept jumping out of the chair and spinning around the room and she was talking really fast about having a baby and being pregnant. I did not even try to deal with her. I called the Access Team and it took them half an hour to get to my office. The whole time I am watching her spin around, and I cannot help but laugh. They took her for an evaluation, but that was the craziest woman.”
