Based on the number of individuals killed, he is sentenced to capital punishment. For this Final Project, you are to apply your own state and case law, identify forensic risk assessment factors, and evaluate your own biases pertaining to the case.

For your Final Project, you will review the School Shooter podcast. For this Assignment, assume that the juvenile shooter killed the teacher, the principal, and two students. As a result, he has been bound over to adult court and sentenced as an adult. Based on the number of individuals killed, he is sentenced to capital punishment. For this Final Project, you are to apply your own state and case law, identify forensic risk assessment factors, and evaluate your own biases pertaining to the case.

Final Project: Write a 10- to 12-page (not including references, title page, or abstract) APA-formatted paper in which you do the following: Review/research current state laws pertaining to juveniles in capital offenses bound over to adult court. Provide an analysis of your state (California) laws regarding juveniles sentenced as adults. If you are an international student, you may use your local or regional laws. Evaluate risk factors that may have contributed to the shooter’s actions. Be sure to include developmental risk factors. Recommend forensic risk assessment instruments that would be appropriate to be used in evaluating risk specific to this case. Evaluate your own personal biases, which may lead to weaknesses regarding how you effectively communicate the results of the forensic assessment where the defendant is hypothetically sentenced to death. Explain ethical concerns that may impact your work on this case. Be sure to cite relevant APA Ethical Guidelines, Specialty Guidelines for Forensic Psychology and/or Multicultural Competence Guidelines located within the Week 2 Learning Resources. The Final Project must include a minimum of five academic references (in addition to any course readings that you may wish to reference). Please be aware that non-professional, user-created websites such as Wikipedia will not be accepted as scholarly references.

Apply major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and historical trends in psychology to prepare for graduate studies or careers in which psychological training is relevant.

  • Students will write a paper reflecting upon their educational experiences within their psychology program journey, using the Program Goals as an organizational paradigm. That means you will organize your paper using the Goals. Sections of the body of the paper will correspond to the Goals. This paper should include thoughts regarding successes and challenges, new insights, and personal transformations. This should be at a deep level rather than a surface mention. You must address each of the Program Goals which are displayed below and discuss how you have specifically met that goal, referencing courses, papers and concepts. List the Program Goal verbatim (with proper citation) and then address each component to receive maximum points. The reflective paper will be 7 to10 pages, double-spaced, not including the expected title and reference pages. APA format is expected and you must reference yourself when quoting from past papers. Only academic/scholarly sources should be used. You should organize it by the Program Goals and use headings per the APA Manual.

Review Chapter 6 in your course text, Research Methods for the Behavioral Sciences. Pay particular attention to when and where surveys are used in forensic research and the importance of representative sampling.

The accuracy of the results of research data is partially dependant on the sample that was used in the research study. How large the sample, its specific characteristics, and how it was selected, all play a significant role in how “good” the research results will be. Without appropriate sample size, characteristics, and selection, the results will be less than optimal. To this point, forensic psychology professionals often use existing databases from which to draw the data for their research; that is, they obtain their sample from these data bases. The problem with doing this is that the researcher does not have input into the sample represented in the data, such as how and from whom it was collected.

To prepare for this assignment:

  • Review Chapter 6 in your course text, Research Methods for the Behavioral Sciences. Pay particular attention to when and where surveys are used in forensic research and the importance of representative sampling.
  • Review the selected pages of Appendix B in your course text, Research Methods for the Behavioral Sciences. Pay close attention to the role of sample size in applying results to the general population.
  • Using the Walden Library, select a forensic psychology research article that interests you. As you review it, focus on the section(s) discussing methods and results.
  • Consider how the sample size, sample characteristics, and means of sample selection influenced the results of the study.

The assignment (1–3 pages):

  • Briefly summarize the forensic psychology research article you selected, including the sections on methods and results, paying particular attention to sample size, characteristics, and means of selection.
  • Explain how the sample size, sample characteristics, and sample selection influenced the results of the study and why.

Create a PowerPoint presentation of 16-18 slides for the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-IV (MCMI-IV).  Address and include the following in your PowerPoint:

5.Describe potential treatment strategies that would likely be incorporated into a treatment plan based on results from an MCMI-IV.

6.Include speaker notes below each content-related slide that represent what would be said if giving the presentation in person. Expand upon the information included in the slide and do not simply restate it. Please ensure the speaker notes include a minimum of 50 words.

7.A reference slide with a minimum of four scholarly references in addition to the textbook.

In addition to writing a 300 word answer to each essay question with APA formatted citations and references (APA title page and reference page are required. Each question should be answered clearly and numbered) students will answer each question thoroughly and completely, providing examples where required.
