LO 3 Demonstrate and explore the value of contributing to a community initiative or project by reporting on the skills and experience acquired during participation
LO 4 Reflect on the transferable nature of this engagement to professional roles within health and social care

Introduction (250 words)
Briefly provide the context of your volunteering opportunity by drawing on the formative tasks from the first action learning set and the mandatory task of completing the Outline plan and the Organisation and student placement agreement.  You may state the name of your organisation as this has been arranged through the Active Student Volunteering Service specifically for this module.  Indicate what you were asked to do as your project.  It may have contributed to a larger, ongoing project with a defined job role or role specification.

Community engagement and contemporary contexts in health and social care (400 words)
Explain your understanding of community engagement.  Identify why this might be important for the health and wellbeing of local communities.  Discuss and analyse with reference to the literature why your particular project addresses this agenda in light of recent health and social care reforms.  Any key concepts introduced should be referenced.  This section addresses learning outcome 1.

Profile of the organisation (350 words)
Elaborate on the organisation in which you were volunteering.  What is its purpose?  Refer to any goals and vision statements.  Why is it a ‘not for profit organisation’ and how does this sit within the three sectors?  You may want to include why you volunteered for this organisation.  You can outline your induction process and any training you had to undertake and analyse its significance to the volunteering agenda.  This section addresses learning outcome 2.
Value of contributing to a community initiative (400 words)
Evaluate what went well and not so well with reference to volunteering theory and insights from the literature.  Provide examples and refer to your prioritising and time management skills and ability to work within a team.  Identify what you brought to the project in terms of your interpersonal and organisation skills.  You should refer to your SWOT analysis and include this as an appendix to your report.  This section addresses learning outcome 3.

Transferability of acquired skills and knowledge (350 words).
The second action learning set should help you with this section.  Reflect on how you can transfer this learning to professional roles within health and social care.  What difference is this going to make to your practice as a nursing student and understanding of community engagement?  Assess whether this type of engagement is something that you can expect to see more of in the future and how nurses and health care staff can contribute.  This section addresses learning outcome 4.

Conclusion (250 words)
Summarise your volunteering project, the key learning points from your engagement and why it has given you an increased understanding for your future role as a nurse.  Do not introduce any new material.

Remember that if you include any appendices apart from the SWOT analysis, for example, diagrams or tables or your volunteering role description, these should not exceed 10% of the overall word allowance.
