Some Guidance for Unit 7 Assignment (Methodology)
Posted on: Friday, May 29, 2020 5:31:05 PM CDT

Hi, Everyone:

Please remember that the Unit 7 Assignment is the whole Chapter 3, not a cut and paste of what you wrote for the Unit 6 discussion.

Please look in the template for the subheadings of what needs to be in your Chapter 3.  You will need to do it all (and more) to get the best grade on this assignment.

First, what you don’t need:  The directions say to include your rewritten Chapter 2.  Yes, you should have rewritten your Chapter 2 by now, but you do not need to include it.

I’m only grading Chapter 3 (Methodology) in this Assignment.  If the Scoring Guide asks for something you put in Chapter 2, and you decide not to put it in Chapter 3, you will lose all the points for that criterion.  Again, I’m not grading Chapter 2 this time and you don’t need to include it now.

Let’s talk about the Scoring Guide.  Be sure to align your work with the Distinguished levels for each criterion.  Not including anything on a criterion is the fastest way to get a bad grade on an Assignment.  Each criterion is worth 12% so if you leave two of them unanswered, that’s 24 points right off the top of your grade.

Let’s look at a couple of criteria for the Distinguished level.  Take #2 criterion; In the Distinguished area it says “Describes the purpose of a research study; connects purpose to the research question and choice of methodology with support from the literature.”

It looks simple enough but what do you have to do?  Describe the purpose of your study — what does purpose mean again?  You’ll have to articulate the connection between the purpose and the research question.  What is the point of the research question?  Why is it important?  Finally, you have to connect purpose to your methodology choice and provide support from the literature; i.e., citations and references about these points.

What I’ve noticed in the past on this one is people sometimes don’t even have a section for the purpose and don’t draw those necessary connections.

Another criterion is 5 (you’ll have to count down).  It says “Analyzes the potential contribution of a proposed research study. Draws on current evidence to support argument describing the purpose, which is to answer the research question and solve the research problem. Discusses how anticipated research findings contribute to existing literature and the potential remaining gaps in the literature. Considers pertinent stakeholders.”

In this one you would analyze the study’s potential contribution.  Analyze is different than describe or explain.  Please note what it says about purpose — which is to answer the RQ and solve the research problem.  In order to do that you have to have both the RQ clearly labeled and spelled out as well as the same for the research problem. (What is the research problem again?)

Remember, the RQ is the most important piece of a research proposal.  Everything has to connect to it.  Written correctly, it will signal what the methodology is to be, as well as the type of design.  It has an important relationship to the purpose and the research problem and the research questions have to align with the RQ.  If you received feedback that your RQ needs some editing or won’t work with the methodology you chose, you much change it.  If you have an unworkable RQ, nothing else will work either.

Procedures:  Step by step procedures need to be in this chapter for how you will recruit your participants, how you collect your data, and how you will analyze your data.  We know that you can’t say much about how to analyze data, but you can read something about this in regard to your design so you say a sentence or two.

Extras:  Pay attention for extras that need to be included such as ethics and diversity.  Yes you wrote about these in Chapter 2, but now it’s from the perspective of the methodology.  For example, what would be most important about ethics and your procedures (at least three main things)?

For further assistance in completing Chapter 3, read the directions in the Unit, read what the template says for Chapter 3; Methodology, and look at a dissertation to see how they wrote this chapter.

If you’ve already turned in your assignment but see you’d like to change something let me know and I’ll send it back to you.

Post Investment Hold Up

What Is It? Here is some help.https://truthonthemarket.com/2011/11/18/holdup-problem-airline-edition/

In chapter 5 Froeb discussed post-investment holdup as sunk cost problem associated with contract specific fixed investments. The modern theory of contracts is sometimes called the theory of joining wills which simply means, when parties make an agreement they are joining together to complete an endeavor of mutual interest. The problem with all contracts that endure over time is that not all potential challenges can be anticipated. The idea of joining wills is that parties will attempt to seek accommodations to advance their mutual interest, so long as the return on the invested activity pays off. Froeb illustrates the idea by the example of marriage as a contract.

  • Identify a sunk cost investment you have made or one that your company/organization has made.
  • How might the investment be, or has been, subject to post-investment holdup?
  • Suppose your employer took note of your decision to get an MBA and appointed you as the interim director for new department. Shortly after you completed your degree, your company merged with another company and the new department you were managing was abolished? Is this a post investment holdup? Is there a financial injury?

PLEASE DO NOT RELY ON WIKIPEDIA, INVESTOPEDIA OR ANY OTHER PEDIA AS A REFERENCE AT ANYTIME IN THIS COURSE.

FOR THE MAXIMUM POSSIBLE CREDIT OF 20 POINTS, YOU MUST COMPLETE ONE POST AND ONE FOLLOW-UP/REPLY. MAKE SURE BOTH THE POST AND REPLY FOCUS ON THE QUESTIONS ASKED.

Professionalism in the work place Unit VIII Assignment. I will be checking for plagiarism and any other cheating website.

This assignment provides you with an opportunity to complete three major items: a cover letter, a resume, and a professional strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis. The cover letter should be a three- paragraph memo that has been tailored to a specific job that interests you. The resume should adhere to the steps outlined in Chapter 14 (see page 206). The details within the resume must be current with all relevant and up-to-date information. The SWOT analysis should address your professional strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Bullet points are acceptable for the resume and SWOT analysis; however, they must be detailed. Again, the cover letter must include three paragraphs. Also, the resume must be at least one page, and the SWOT analysis must thoroughly address each of the four parts of the analysis. Be sure to have the major items in the proper sequence: first, the cover letter; then, the resume; and finally, the SWOT analysis. Format each major item as you wish; however, be sure the details are professional and legible. Save all three within one word-processing document (e.g., Word) before submitting the file in Blackboard for grading.

Information about accessing the Blackboard Grading Rubric for this assignment is provided below.
