Note: This assignment works BEST with a CRIMINAL CASE from within the last 10 years. If you choose a civil case (such as Rowe v. Wade or Brown vs. Board of Education), you will find that no laws have been violated, and therefore there are no penalties. Also, no charges are made. A Civil Case is a contention by one partiy that a law or laws were broken, but that is not determined until after the verdict is issued.

Case Study 1: Understanding the Court SystemDue Week 3 and worth 200 pointsThe U.S. Court System is a complex system that includes both federal and state-level courts. The federal system includes the judicial branch of the government. This system is designed to help society interpret the U.S. Constitution and provide guidelines for society. Court cases may concern many different topics and have an unlimited number of outcomes.Use the Internet or Strayer databases to research a civil or criminal court case in which you are interested.Write a five to eight (5-8) page paper in which you:

  1. Summarize the seminal facts of the case that you chose.
  2. Explain the main laws that have been violated in the case that you chose.
  3. Describe the possible penalties that could be associated with the laws that you just described.
  4. Explain whether your specific case was heard in the state or federal court system, and include any related jurisdictional requirements. Explain the fundamental reasons why it was necessary for the case to be heard in that particular court system.
  5. Summarize the outcome of the case, and indicate whether the judge or jury made the decision.
  6. Discuss whether or not you believe that the outcome of the case was justified. Provide a rationale for the response.
  7. Use at least (3) quality academic resources. Note: Wikipedia and other websites do not qualify as academic resources.

Include the following in your case study submission:

  • A description of your professional responsibilities as discussed in the stages of the drawing-in process (Unit 12)
  • Discussion of any fitness tests, methods of evaluation, and data collection used to assess and evaluate the client’s needs
  • Specific conditions that you have identified in the client profile
  • A fully detailed 12-week comprehensive and periodized training program including specific exercises, sets, repetitions, suggested rest times, etc. Use an integrated approach in your program recommendations.
  • Specific and detailed nutritional strategies and an explanation as to how the strategies will assist the client in meeting energy needs
  • Explanation for your chosen assessment, programming, and nutritional recommendations. (Be sure to reference course concepts when discussing rationale for your recommendations.

Keep in mind that a client should be able to take your program and put it into practice without having to contact you to clarify what you intended by your recommendations or to explain parts of your program.

Don’t forget your explanation for WHY you listed and recommended what you did. Reference the concepts and theories covered in the course. Be sure to address why the program and exercises recommended are appropriate for the specific client given the client’s history, current abilities, and intended goal(s). For example: if you are developing a program for a beginner client without any resistance training experience, explain how your program addresses the lack of experience, initial need for foundational development, process by which you would safely progress the client, etc. Tying your program to course concepts is a critical component of your case study.

For this Assignment, you compile a research proposal that includes a research problem, research question, and a literature review.

For this Assignment, choose between the case studies entitled “Social Work Research: Couple Counseling” and “Social Work Research: Using Multiple Assessments.” Consider how you might select among the issues presented to formulate a research proposal.

Be sure to consult the outline in Chapter 14 the Yegidis et al. text for content suggestions for the sections of a research proposal. As you review existing research studies, notice how the authors identify a problem, focus the research question, and summarize relevant literature. These can provide you with a model for your research proposal. By Day 7

Submit a 5- to 6-page research proposal stating both a research problem and a broad research question (may be either qualitative or quantitative). Use 6–10 of the most relevant literature resources to support the need for the study, define concepts, and define variables relevant to the question. Include a literature review explaining what previous research has found in relation to your problem and question. The literature review should also include a description of methods used by previous researchers. Finally, be sure to explain how your proposed study addresses a gap in existing knowledge.
