Organizations are not only successful because of a brand or an idea. They are successful because their leadership understands the importance of analyzing every part of the organization. This ensures that balance and control measures are aligned to their mission statement and organizational goals in order to achieve their highest level of success in their competitive markets. In this assignment, you will apply research skills to identify, analyze, and assess the success of a Fortune 500 Organization.

Choose a Fortune 500 company and write a brief history of the organization. Then, elaborate on what type of human relationship structure the organization promotes. What type of customer does the organizational structure target from products or services? What communication strategies are being used? Are they effective? Explain what can be done for improvements in their strategies. Then, explain how they select their teams in order to be successful. What are their methods to develop managerial decisions? Where does the organization rate within the current industry? Summarize your views on organizational performance based on human capital. Explain your recommendations for improvements of the organizations practices. Is the organization operating in an ethical manner?

Paper
The assignment must be 610 pages in length, not including the cover sheet or reference page. You must use 12-point font, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins. Three or more references must be listed in APA Format on a page at the conclusion of the assignment.

Death by PowerPoint!
PowerPoint is both one of the most important tools and one of the most dreaded tools in the business world.  I cant tell you how many horrible presentations Ive sat through in my adult life, most frequently as an employee!  There are so many different opinions on what makes a good or bad PowerPoint presentation.
Pick one of the following scenarios and discuss why the approach used is a dont when using PowerPoint, and make sure to explain what you should do instead. Dont forget to respond to at least one other student.
1.    Youre in a business pitch with the CEO of Verizon attempting to sell your brand-new virtual assistant and your PowerPoint consists of white backgrounds and black letters.
2.    Youre teaching History in a lecture hall with 1,000 students, and your PowerPoint presentation consists of slides filled with paragraphs and paragraphs of information.
3.    Youre a new Pastor meeting with your congregation for the first time and you thought it would be nice to have a PowerPoint presentation behind you.  On each slide, youve included a fun, but huge animated GIF.
4.    Its your parents 50th wedding anniversary and youve crafted this great PowerPoint full of pictures and fun quotes from their years together, and you wanted to make it jump off of the screen so youve used a black background and purple sparkling text.

Individual Assignment: International Business Consulting

Description of assignment:
You must select a set of organisational leaders (at least four senior people that work together) with whom you are reasonably familiar. You may use an organisation that you have worked for or currently work for.  Your observation and/or knowledge of individuals in the organisation will be important inputs to the assignment.
Identify the most important strategic challenge that the organisation you have selected faces. Clearly define the challenge and the likely consequences for the organisation if it fails to act. Set out what you believe are the likely attitudes of the various leaders to this challenge, for example is the CEO fearful or optimistic? Is the CFO likely to want deep analysis before acting?
Consider and outline 2-3 options that you believe could best address the challenge. Options could be any course of action, from acquiring another business to a cost-cutting programme. You must present the options and select one as a recommendation.
Create a visual stakeholder engagement plan on one page that sets out the actions you believe necessary to align relevant people to your plan. Each one of the four (or more) individual stakeholders must feature in the plan. Each action you propose must be aligned to the needs of the individual and the action selected should reflect the individuals attitude. For example, a 1:1 interview with a potentially skeptical stakeholder rather than an email communication.
Your assignment submission should be 2,000 words (10%) and should be typed with a font size 12, 1.5 spacing and must look professional. Your report must be structured and divided into numbered sections that correspond logically to your chosen structure. You should include an overall introduction and conclusion. In addition to the 2,000 word essay, you must include a one-page Stakeholder Engagement Plan.

(In preparation for this discussion question, make sure you have read the course materials for the week: Hawkins & Clinton 9-12, McMinn 1-2, and the lectures for weeks 3-4)

Discussion Question: Your human services counseling clients will come to you suffering at one level or another. Our lectures for the last two weeks and both the course texts, all discuss the concept of suffering and factors guiding how to counsel those who are suffering. In fact, a careful reading of the Reading & Study materials indicates numerous concepts and principles that could apply in counseling those who are hurting.

As you counsel your hurting clients, what you say to them will be guided by your own beliefs about the role of suffering in human experience (part of your own theoretical map as discussed in the lecture). Considering the numerous points that were made in the course, make a list of at least 5 concepts (questions to ask myself as I counsel those who are suffering. . . ) that you found particularly helpful, insightful, unique, or had not thought about before. What guidelines would you particularly emphasize as you counsel hurting people? The five concepts you list should be based on the course materials, so make sure you cite the source you use.
Then consider the following scenario. What suggestions from the course materials would you want to apply to this hurting client? Why did you choose those suggestions as most important?
Scenario

You work primarily for an adoption agency but on some evenings, you volunteer your time at your churchs free counseling clinic. Your client in that setting, Jamie, was recently divorced, and expresses that she has no direction in life. She feels very rejected and alone. She often cries in session and in her latest session, lashed out at you, her therapist, since she was not feeling better. She questioned whether you were really helping her since she is still feeling all this pain. She left asking, Why cant you help remove this needless suffering?
