For this assignment, you will continue to work with the personal budget workbook that you previously created in Module 04.
- Using the Scenario Manager, create three scenarios to see how your Net Income is affected.
- Your income goes up
- Three of your expenses go up
- Your income goes down, and your rent goes up
- Run a summary of your scenarios.
- Widen the column and replace the cell addresses with the labels used in your budget.
Note that scenario names should be short but descriptive enough so that the instructor understands each scenario.
Submit your completed assignment by following the directions linked below. Please check the Course Calendar for specific due dates.
Save your assignment as a Microsoft Excel workbook. (Mac users, please remember to append the “.xlsx” extension to the filename.) The name of the file should be your first initial and last name, followed by an underscore and the name of the assignment, and an underscore and the date. An example is shown below:
Linking It All Together and Creating a Macro
It’s time for you to add the current stock prices to your stock portfolio. You will be adding this data to a separate worksheet, and then you will link the new prices to your Summary worksheet.
Finally, we will create a macro that adds a footer to your Summary worksheet. The footer should contain your name in the first section and the current date function – =Now() – in the second section. Be sure to return to the Normal view before stopping the macro. You will need to save the file as a Macro enabled workbook.
Follow these steps.
Linking Cells
- Add the label Current Price to column C of your Web Sources worksheet.
- Using the URLs from your Web Sources worksheet, find the current price for each of your stocks and enter them into this column.
- Link these prices into the Current Stock Price column of your portfolio.
Creating a Macro
- Once you have added the Developer tab to the Ribbon and set security, click the Developer tab and select Record Macro.
- Name the macro My_footer.
- Create a Shortcut key (Ctrl + g).
- Store the Macro in your Personal Macro Workbook. Your screen should look like this.
- Click Ok.
- Go to the Insert tab then click the Text tab or arrow.
