hat is the relationship between such audits and the academic or training operations of a school or business?

The Discussion Board (DB) is part of the core of online learning. Classroom discussion in an online environment requires the active participation of students and the instructor to create robust interaction and dialogue. Every student is expected to create an original response to the open-ended DB question as well as engage in dialogue by responding to posts created by others throughout the week. At the end of each unit, DB participation will be assessed based on both level of engagement and the quality of the contribution to the discussion.

At a minimum, each student will be expected to post an original and thoughtful response to the DB question and contribute to the weekly dialogue by responding to at least two other posts from students. Two additional responses are required after Friday of each week. Students are highly encouraged to engage on the Discussion Board early and often, as that is the primary way the university tracks class attendance and participation.

The purpose of the Discussion Board is to allow students to learn through sharing ideas and experiences as they relate to course content and the DB question. Because it is not possible to engage in two-way dialogue after a conversation has ended, no posts to the DB will be accepted after the end of each unit.

Part I

You are a senior leader in a school or business, and have been asked to conduct an internal audit of the organization’s HR functions. If you were to write a memo to supervisors in your organization regarding the need for an internal audit of your HR functions what would be the key elements you would outline in your memo and why? What would be the primary focus and purpose of an internal audit of your organization’s HR functions? What might be controversial about such a process? Explain.

Part II

Use your textbooks, the library, personal experience, and Internet resources to review the principles and concepts in conducting a human resources management (HRM) audit. If you were in the process of developing a plan for an internal HR Audit, what materials, articles, books, and resources would you include in your plan, and why? What is the relationship between such audits and the academic or training operations of a school or business?

In your own words, post a substantive response to the Discussion Board question(s) and comment on other postings. Your response should address the DB question(s) and move the conversation forward. You will be graded on the quality of your postings, including mastery of the concept as well as critical thinking. If asked for your opinion, do not simply state that it is a good or bad idea; elaborate on your reasons and argument. Include enough detail to substantiate your thinking as well as your position on the questions or comments.

Describe how your general education courses have influenced your ethical values.

Globalization and Its Ethical Implications [WLOs: 1, 2, 3, 5] [CLOs: 1, 2, 3, 5]

Prepare: Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, review the following Week 1 and Week 2 required resources that focus on globalization, ethics, and moral reasoning. This will assist you in examining your own development of ethical and moral responsibilities as they relate to your Final Paper and its topic.

Read these articles from Week 1:

  • From Globalism to Globalization: The Politics of Resistance
  • Globalization, Globalism, and Cosmopolitanism as an Educational Ideal
  • Transnationalism and Anti-globalism

Read these articles from Week 2:

  • Introduction to Global Issues
  • A Global Ethics for a Globalized World
  • Virtue Ethics and Modern Society
  • Classical Stoicism and the Birth of a Global Ethics: Cosmopolitan Duties in a World of Local Loyalties

Reflect: The change of our world from a local economy to a national economy to a global, international economy means that increasingly diverse populations will have to work together to achieve common goals. However, as the economy becomes increasingly global, local economies and people may suffer economic disadvantage or may find themselves marginalized from the rest of the world. Globalization creates ethical dilemmas for which we will need to find solutions.

Write: For this discussion, address the following prompts:

  • Explain the implications of globalization.
  • Identify at least two ethical issues that go along with the global societal topic you have chosen for your final essay.
  • Explain how globalization contributes to or affects these ethical dilemmas.
  • Propose solutions to these ethical dilemmas that are feasible financially, socially, and culturally.

Discussion 2

  Ethics and Moral Development [WLOs: 1, 2, 3] [CLOs: 1, 2, 3]

Reflect: Take a deeper look at your own life and determine which experiences have inspired ethical and moral reasoning. Were there any huge influences in this process?

Write: For this discussion you will address the following prompts:

  • Explain what it means to be ethical as it relates to personal, academic, and professional growth.
  • Provide at least one ethical dilemma you have encountered, and describe how the issue was resolved.
  • Describe how your general education courses have influenced your ethical values.

Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length, which should include a thorough response to each prompt. You are required to provide in-text citations of applicable required reading materials and/or any other outside sources you use to support your claims. Provide full reference entries of all sources cited at the end of your response. Please use correct APA format when writing in-text citations (see In-Text Citation Helper (Links to an external site.)) and references (see Formatting Your References List (Links to an external site.)).

What are the possible ways of building reciprocal relationships with this family?

Microsystem Case Discussion

For this discussion, you will need to address the issues of Case 14, “Tomasito Is Too Big to Hold Hands” (Weiss et al., pp. 149–157). Use the following questions to guide your discussion:

  1. How do family processes influence Tomasito’s development?
  2. How does Tomasito’s sense of connectedness affect his motivation to learn? How does it affect those around him and the way they support his learning?
  3. If you were sharing the results of math work and math assessments with Tomasito and his family, how would you go about doing that to optimize his future success in the subject?
  4. What are the possible ways of building reciprocal relationships with this family? Which do you think are the most appropriate and why? What support can be offered and how can parents be encouraged to be more involved?

Use examples from the case study and other appropriate reading to support your responses. This discussion will help you complete your assignment for the unit. Review the postings of others to help you complete your assignment for this week.

Unit 3 Discussion 2

Motivation

Very young children are usually highly motivated to learn (such as exploring gravity by dropping things from the highchair), but this often declines as they grow. With your readings in mind, think about your own motivational drive. What pushes you the most: extrinsic or intrinsic factors? How did your educational environments in the past and today support or detract from this motivation?

Developmental Milestones

Developmental Milestones

Special education teachers often consult and train staff members. Consideration of typical development and achievement of developmental milestones can help staff determine if a student may need a referral for a special education evaluation. This information is often used to select assessments and the effects of a possible disability. When teachers understand the effect of a disability on learning, they are able to prepare the classroom environment and use selected strategies to support students with disabilities.

Use the “Developmental Milestones In-service” to create a 15-20 slide professional development digital presentation for staff members, which outlines the typical cognitive, linguistic, physical, social, and emotional developmental milestones of children pre-K to Grade 3.

Within your presentation, describe what developmental milestones are and why they are important. Include examples of how these milestones may present differently for students without and for students with the six types of disability categories. Include at least one academic strategy and one environmental strategy (how you would change the classroom environment) for each disability.

Include a title slide, reference slide, and presenter’s notes.

A minimum of 3-5 scholarly sources are required.

While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
