Post a logic model and theory of change for a practitioner-level intervention. Describe the types of problems, the client needs, and the underlying causes of problems and unmet need

In social work practice and in program development, it is possible to make faulty assumptions about what clients need and what social work activities will lead to. Consider the following:

A team of social workers meets to discuss their services to low-income young mothers. One social worker states that what the young mothers need most is information about community resources. She proposes that the social workers’ activities consist of making referrals to programs for public assistance for income support, food stamps, medical insurance, employment agencies, and educational resources. However, another team member points out that most clients are referred to their program from the public welfare office and health care programs. This suggests that the clients tend to possess knowledge of these common resources and have been able to access them.

How might the team explore what problems bring the clients to their agency? What might the team learn from client assessments? How can the team verify the desired outcomes of their services? Developing a logic model will help the team see a logical connection between problems, needs, intervention activities, and corresponding outcomes. This series of logical connections leads to formulating a theory of change, that is, a theory about how our work leads to the outcomes for clients.

To prepare for this Discussion, imagine that you are part of a work group charged with creating a logic model and generating a theory of change. Select a practitioner-level intervention for which you are interested in analyzing connections. Consider how a logic model might be applied to that practice.

Post a logic model and theory of change for a practitioner-level intervention. Describe the types of problems, the client needs, and the underlying causes of problems and unmet needs. Identify the short- and long-term outcomes that you think would represent an improved condition. Then describe interventions that would lead to a change in the presenting conditions. Be sure to search for and cite resources that inform your views.

Technology and Counseling

Technology and Counseling

In 2014, the American Counseling Association added a new section to the code of ethics titled Distance Counseling, Technology, and Social Media (Section G). This section was added in response to the tremendous changes that have occurred in this area since the 2005 code was written.

The appropriate use of technology may help counselors manage and provide quality services and programs for their clients in a more efficient manner. However, there are significant ethical challenges associated with the use of technology that counselors need to acknowledge and address.

For this Discussion, review the Learning Resources for this week. Then, select two types of technology counselors can utilize with clients. Consider one type of technology that might be useful in the provision of counseling services (e.g., video conferencing, encrypted chat, virtual reality) and one type of technology that might be used in the management of counseling services (e.g., electronic data storage, e-mail, social media). Reflect on the potential ethical challenges counselors face when integrating technology into the counseling profession.

Post by Day 3 your position on the use of technology in providing counseling services. Then, explain at least one ethical violation and one ethical challenge related to using technology for providing counseling services. Then, state your position on the use of technology in managing counseling services. Finally, explain at least one ethical implication of integrating technology for this purpose. Justify your position.
Be sure to use the Learning Resources and the current literature to support your response.

Identify and briefly describe three (3) types of communication. Please identify each type of communication in BOLD font.

Review the attached pdf. file concerning readings from: Weinberg, R., & Gould, D. (2015).  Foundations of sport and exercise psychology. (6th ed.).  Champaign, IL: Human Kinetics.

Students only need to read the Weinberg and Gould (2015) attached pdf. file to complete this assignment.

After reviewing the Weinberg and Gould (2015) attached pdf. file, compose a 2 to 3 page (i.e., double- spaced, 12 point-font) paper in order to assist coaches and athletes with demonstrating effective communication concerning athletic performance. Within this paper, include a brief introduction and present a separate section (i.e., paragraphs) for the following:

·            Identify and briefly describe three (3) types of communication. Please identify each type of communication in BOLD font.

·            Identify and briefly describe three (3) types of listening. Please identify each type of listening in BOLD font.

·            Identify three (3) barriers to effective communication. Please identify each barrier to effective communication in BOLD font.

·            Briefly explain the “Sandwich Approach” for providing criticism.

·            Present a personal example for demonstrating the “Sandwich Approach.”

Make certain to present complete sentences within your paper. It is unnecessary to include each of the aforementioned statements (i.e., 1-5 — see above) in the paper’s text (i.e., contents).

Submit your assignment as an attachment in a single MS Word (doc., docx.) document titled “Your Last Name Week 4 Assignment.” For example, the MS Word document would be titled: Johnson Week 4 Assignment. Avoid typing your entire assignment in the text box provided within each assignment.

Reflect on the role of a nurse leader as a knowledge worker.

Among the Resources in this module is the Rutherford (2008) article Standardized Nursing Language: What Does It Mean for Nursing Practice? In this article, the author recounts a visit to a local hospital to view the recent implementation of a new coding system.

During the visit, one of the nurses commented to her, “We document our care using standardized nursing languages but we don’t fully understand why we do” (Rutherford, 2008, para. 1).

How would you respond to a comment such as this one?

To Prepare:

Review the concepts of informatics as presented in the Resources, particularly Rutherford, M. (2008) Standardized Nursing Language: What Does It Mean for Nursing Practice?

Reflect on the role of a nurse leader as a knowledge worker.

Consider how knowledge may be informed by data that is collected/accessed.

The Assignment:

In a 2- to 3-page paper, address the following:

Explain how you would inform this nurse (and others) of the importance of standardized nursing terminologies.

Describe the benefits and challenges of implementing standardized nursing terminologies in nursing practice. Be specific and provide examples.

Be sure to support your paper with peer-reviewed research on standardized nursing terminologies that you consulted from the Walden Library.
