Write a 1,750- to 2,100-word paper that synthesizes your learning and engages you in critical thinking around the potential ethical and legal challenges in professional practice.

Through integrating knowledge of ethical and legal requirements into your ethical decision-making process, you can provide a proper ethical response to ethical dilemmas. This assignment will help you to apply what you have learned in this course to determine an appropriate ethical response that demonstrates ethical decision making.

Write a 1,750- to 2,100-word paper that synthesizes your learning and engages you in critical thinking around the potential ethical and legal challenges in professional practice.

Address the following aspects of ethical practice in your paper:

  • Select a section of the ACA Code of Ethics that can present potential ethical dilemmas because of a conflict between your personal values and ethics.
  • Select a section of the ACA Code of Ethics where no conflicts exist between your personal values and ethics.

Demonstrate the following in your paper:

  • Evidence of research from scholarly, peer-reviewed journals that addresses the identified potential ethical dilemma, as well as the area where no conflict exists
  • Identification of significant legal or ethical issues and processes in each respective area
  • Risk management strategies and self-evaluation practices useful in resolving any dilemmas in your area of conflict
  • Well-reasoned arguments that evidence critical thought and self-awareness

Include a minimum of seven references. One of these may be from the course texts, and one must be from the ACA Code of Ethics.

Determine what Level 02 Cross-Cutting Measure (CCM-2) you     would utilize in future sessions based on the information   provided.

This assignment contains four parts, as identified and described   below. Please include four subheadings in your paper that clearly   identifies each part. In a 1,500-word paper, include the following:

Part 1: Intake

  1. Read and review the Eliza intake document.
  2. Assess how     you would use the Level 01 Cross-Cutting Measure (CCM-1), in     addition to what specific questions would need to be answered by the     end of the biopsychosocial assessment.

Part 2: Biopsychosocial Assessment

  1. Review the completed biopsychosocial assessment for   Eliza.
  2. Provide an assessment related to client symptomology     along with a DSM and ICD diagnosis based on client   assessment.
  3. Provide the initial treatment goals and   plan.

Part 3: Treatment Planning

  1. Determine what Level 02 Cross-Cutting Measure (CCM-2) you     would utilize in future sessions based on the information   provided.
  2. Identify one additional assessment outside of those     provided by the APA that would measure what the future counselor is     attempting to assess based on treatment goals/plan.
  3. Describe how you would convey the assessment findings to the     client and family.
  4. Include how you would prioritize the     needs and formulate agreed upon outcomes, measures, and   strategies.

Part 4: Referral

  1. Identify any possible referrals you might make and how you     might address them with your client.
  2. How would you     know who to make referrals to and how would you follow up with the     referral after you make it?

  1. Studies show that people in countries such as Japan and Korea tend to evaluate themselves critically in surveys; they tend to consider self as not necessarily hard-working. Explain the reasons for such cultural response bias.
  2. Native Americans and Alaska Natives report a higher prevalence of pain symptoms and painful conditions when compared with the general population of the United States. What is your understanding of these findings?
  3. It is assumed that multicultural experiences foster the creative expansion of ideas. Consider expatriate artists and writers whose brilliant insights emerged when they left their homeland settled in a foreign country. Do you think that creativity can be sparked when a person is exposed to a foreign culture?
  4. A study of samples in 32 countries showed that individualism was positively correlated with higher expressivity of emotions, especially happiness and surprise. Individualism was negatively correlated with expression of sadness. What is your understanding of these research findings?
  5. For years homosexuality was considered a mental illness in the United States. Is it still perceived as an illness today? Do you agree or disagree?
  6. Research shows that in Buddhist and Western societies may encourage two somewhat different types of motivation, namely “maximizing” and “satisfying.” Explain both briefly.
