Briefly describe any pertinent background information that may be helpful in finding and/or creating a solution to the client’s problem.

In these assignments, students will be presented a specific case scenario applicable to the course material.  Students will respond to each case using the material covered in class up to that date. Papers should include 3–4 pages of content with a title page and should follow current APA formatting (no abstract necessary for case studies).

Your case study should have the following 4 sections:

  1. Introduction to the Situation: Briefly describe the situation and identify the primary issues contributing to the coaching scenario. What are the essential elements needing attention? Using a coaching perspective, identify the problem as clearly and concisely as possible.
  2. Background Information: Briefly describe any pertinent background information that may be helpful in finding and/or creating a solution to the client’s problem.
  3. Recommendations & Action Plan: The next several paragraphs should be dedicated to addressing the problem. Describe in detail your recommended action plan for each of the presenting issues? What motivating factors should drive the change process for your client? What challenges should the client anticipate moving forward, and what realistic expectations should be developed? What is your plan for coaching your client through the process of change.
  4. Conclusion: Your final paragraph should summarize the primary issue, the essential contextual elements, and your plan for moving forward with the client.

These four sections should be 3–4 pages long. Remember, your title page does not count towards your overall page total. Be sure to follow current APA formatting.

Janet is a young single professional who has come to you for help. She earns a salary of $45,000 per year working as an office manager at a local paper supply company. While conducting my interview and reviewing reading I learned that there are a few evaluation methods for school psychologists to use to identify students that have exceptional needs. While the IQ test was used for many years, parents and school staff have become more in favor of the RTI method of evaluation. This form of evaluation involves gathering data from multiple sources regarding the child’s behavior in various situations, as well as direct observations and interactions.

Concern to identify a child with exceptional needs is important to due quickly. For some, children missing milestones such as conversation, walking, and eating solid foods can raise red flags. While it is great to be concerned and to discuss these issues with your doctor, they do not equal a child being exceptional. When children enter school and begin to interact with their peers, then concerns and exceptionality become more apparent. Missing milestones in early education is defiantly time to be concerned and begin discussion about an evaluation.

During my interview, the mother was extremely resistant to her child being tested until she entered the first grade. Her struggles with testing her daughter early was the perceptions schools would have upon admitting her daughter. While schools are inclusive environments for exceptional children, are there better ways for them to appear more inclusive to those not yet involved in the school?

By speaking with the school psychologist, I learned a lot about identifying exceptional students. Our psychologist is very accommodating for both the teachers and students and always provides us with such valuable information. When discussing with her about identifying students who may have exceptional needs, she said that I should be concerned when the child seems withdrawn from the tasks as well as their peers, are throwing fits over small things, can’t regulate their emotions, act out in class, and often talk over the teacher or talk while she is talking. She said that not all students are going to exhibit the same behaviors but she said that any of these on their own could be concerning.

Once the teacher sees some of these signs and realizes through their own observations that the student does not seem to be making the same progress as their peers (either socially or academically), then they can refer the student to the “Educational Support Team (EST)” that we have at our school. Once the student is referred and the paperwork is filled out explaining the concerns, the EST will meet together and discuss what we can do to help the students. Often times, testing is required. Many students are picked up for IEP’s or services through this process. If no services are required, the team will come up with some accommodations for the student and the team will continue to meet every couple of months to discuss progress and to see if they can support the student in any other ways.

Describe the Z code or codes that apply, noting the limitations and risks of using these codes for Annie and her family.

For this assignment, consider the following case vignette:   Annie is a 13-year-old Asian American girl; the youngest child in a family of four older siblings. Her parents are both high school teachers and came to United States from India to attend college and stayed to raise a family together. They travel as a family to India several weeks of every year to be with extended family. Annie understands some phrases in the dialect spoken by her extended family, but she and her sisters consistently speak to their parents in English. When Annie was 5 years old, she was hospitalized for three weeks for a serious illness. Since that time, she has been in good health, but has struggled with her fears and anxiety.  Annie is extremely shy and avoids situations in which she needs to interact with new people or large groups. She worries about making mistakes in her schoolwork and becomes extremely anxious when taking tests. Sometimes, she becomes so nervous that her heart races; she begins to tremble and has difficulty breathing. Annie is also afraid of the dark and does not want to be alone in her room at night. She often requires the presence of one of her parents or older sisters until she falls asleep. As her oldest three sisters have left home to pursue their education and careers, the family is finding Annie’s need for reassurance more burdensome.  Instructions  Download Unit 3 Assignment Template. .Describe the nature and type of offender population. Current demographical characteristics and crime statistics should be included

The purpose of the assignment is to gain a comprehensive understanding of a particular offender population and various treatment and intervention methods that benefit the population and assist in recidivism and controlling crime. You should choose an offender population and treatment intervention(s) that reflect your research or career interests.

The following are examples of various offender populations: users of illicit substances, juveniles/adults who commit homicide, juvenile/adult sexual offenders, dually diagnosed offenders, perpetrators of domestic violence, and gang members. You may choose one of the above-noted offender groups or you may choose a population that is not listed; however, the population must be approved by your instructor.

While you are choosing your paper topic, please keep in mind that you need to be able to locate and review professional journal articles related to the specific offender population and treatment modalities. This may help guide your search.

The first part of the research paper is a literature review on the specific offender population and treatment intervention(s) you choose and will be 7-10 pages in length. The review will be an analysis and summary of current (the past ten years) professional journal articles, government reports, and/or book chapters that relate to your topic. It is expected that you will use and cite 8-10 references. More specifically, you should cover the following topics in this part of the research paper:

1.Describe the nature and type of offender population. Current demographical characteristics and crime statistics should be included.

2.Explain what treatment modalities have shown to be effective in the treatment of the population. Are there treatment modalities that have been proven to be ineffective with the population?

3.Identify what challenges faced by treatment providers regarding the rehabilitation of offenders or of obtaining the necessary treatment for offenders in an institutional setting?

4.Identify what challenges face the offenders. Are the same challenges faced by both juvenile and adult offenders? Identify and explain the current rehabilitation needs of the population within criminal justice system.

The second part of the research paper focuses on issues of crime control related to your specific offender population. This part of the paper should be 6-8 pages in length. Are there any key legal cases whose outcomes have helped shape legislation related to how this offender population is treated with regard to prosecuting and sentencing? Explain what traditional policing modalities are used in apprehending this offender population. Explain what alternative policing methods and community policing methods would also assist in crime control related to this population. Identify approaches in crime control that could be implemented by households, schools, and the community as a whole. This section also requires you to use critical thinking skills and to analyze your population as they move through the criminal justice system; therefore, part of this section of the paper will also include your opinion and reactions to the readings
