What are subcultures and why do people form them?

Haenfler Guided Reading Questions What are subcultures and why do people form them? How did the straight edge movement begin? What is the “clean living” ideology sXers embrace? Name one of the other subcultures Haenfler mentions and give a brief description. How did Haenfler conduct his research of the straight edge movement? List the 5 core values of sXers and give a brief description of what each means. How did X become the straight edgers’ symbol? Patrick, a sXer, says “If you just sip a beer, or take a drag off of a cigarette, you can never call yourself straight edge again. There’s no slipping up in straight edge.” Do you think that’s fair?
