hat is especially useful and not useful about the classification?

When did you become an adult? Was it the day you graduated from high school? Or, was it the day you moved out of your parents’ or caregivers’ home? Your description of what it means to be an adult and how and when an adolescent transitions into adulthood may differ from that of your colleagues.

The authors of your course text, Zastrow and Kirst-Ashman, use the term young and middle adulthood to identify the life-span time period between age 18 and 65. This classification distinguishes this time in the life of an individual from childhood and adolescence and from the later years of adulthood.

Is the authors’ young and middle adulthood classification a useful one? What is especially useful and not useful about the classification? What changes would you make to the authors’ classification to make it more applicable to your role as a social worker?

For this Discussion, you analyze the author’s life-span classification and suggest ways to improve it.

By Day 3

Post:

  • 1.A new classification (or possibly multiple classifications) to replace the authors’ young and middle adulthood classification
  • 2. A definition of your new classification(s)
  • 3. Support for your new classification(s). for example, this support may include references to theory and empirical research findings and should reflect the current understanding of biological, psychological, and social development
  • 4. An implication your new classification might have regarding social work practice

Describe the agency that is requesting consultation, specifying where their services are located within the continuum of care available in the community.

Using SafeAssign

This course requires you to use the SafeAssign tool. The SafeAssign source matching tool is available to you via a link in the courseroom. SafeAssign supports the development of your skills in preparing written coursework. Use your originality report to help ensure that you have used outside sources ethically and effectively.

  • Note: Submitting a draft of your work to SafeAssign allows you make revisions before submitting it as your final work for grading. Submitting an assignment to SafeAssign does not submit the work to the course room for evaluation. This must be done separately; look for directions at the end of the assignment instructions.

Instructions

Use the Consultation, Supervision, and Advocacy Plan Template to complete this assignment. Using your studies in Units 7, 8, and 9, as well as ideas you have gathered from your peers in the discussions, address the following in your assignment:

  1. Identify a population with mental health counseling needs as well as other needs, for example:
    • People experiencing chronic or severe mental illnesses who also experience homelessness.
    • Children with medical needs who also experience high anxiety.
    • Elderly individuals who are socially isolated and depressed.
    • Chemically dependent persons with recurring mental health crises.
  2. Evaluate how the group you identified has been served in the history of clinical mental health counseling.
  3. Describe the agency that is requesting consultation, specifying where their services are located within the continuum of care available in the community. Briefly outline the services they provide, such as outpatient services, inpatient services, partial hospitalization, or aftercare, and describe the other professionals or entities to whom they can refer clients for coordinated care.
  4. Identify and describe the consultation theory, model, and strategies you would propose use to assist the agency in improving coordinated services for their clients.
  5. Propose a counseling supervision model for the agency that describes roles and strategies for maintaining ethical and consistent client care.
  6. Recommend additional steps professionals at the agency could take to advocate at the state or national level to reduce barriers that impede access, equity, and success for their client population.

Discuss the conceptual differences between Transformation-Transactional Leadership and the visions of future developments in leadership Warren Bennis was predicting.

Having an individualized definition of organizational leadership will prove to be helpful when having to explain the concept to upper-level managers and stakeholders. It is also important to understand how your worldview influences your definition so you are able to defend your position. This assignment will allow you to develop your own definition based on the working definitions being used in the field and incorporating a Christian worldview.

General Requirements:

Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:

· Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments.

· Use academic sources, including peer-reviewed journal articles, scholarly books, government reports, and other instructor-approved texts.

· Include a minimum of five scholarly topic-relevant sources (majority of articles should be published within past 5 years).

· You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. Please refer to the directions in the Student Success Center.

Directions:

Write a paper (1,000-1,250 words) that addresses the following issues:

1. Discuss the conceptual differences between Transformation-Transactional Leadership and the visions of future developments in leadership Warren Bennis was predicting.

2. Using the guidance of both leadership theorists and applied behavioral scientists, compose your basic definition of organizational leadership that is functional in organizations you know.

3. Drawing from tenets of the Christian worldview related to organizational leadership, compare the key points of that guidance with two key elements of organizational leadership.

4. Support your comparisons with substantive documentation for each of the two key elements of current theories.

Briefly describe the client’s undesired behavior that he/she would like to change.  Include details related to how long the behavior has persisted, the severity/frequency, and how it impacts the person’s life.

For this assignment, you will examine how learning theories can be used to understand persisting behavior, as well as how an understanding of these theories can help change behavior.  First, select a bad habit or undesired behavior that a person might want to change from the following lists:  procrastination, binge drinking, swearing, excessive caffeine consumption, chronic lateness, smoking, fear of speaking in public, or frequent road rage. Now, suppose a client has come to you because they want to understand and change their behavior.Address the following sections in your Case Study Analysis:

(a) Identification of Behavior (Introduction paragraph)

  • Briefly describe the client’s undesired behavior that he/she would like to change.  Include details related to how long the behavior has persisted, the severity/frequency, and how it impacts the person’s life.

(b)  Based on what you have learned about classical, operant, and social learning theories, develop three brief descriptions (less than one page each), describing how each of the theories could help explain the development and/or persistence of the undesired behavior.  Include terms and concepts related to theories that are most relevant in the plan for the client as indicated below.

  • Plan 1: How could classical conditioning explain the development and the persistence of the client’s undesired behavior?  Include in your discussion coverage of the relationship between and unconditional stimulus, unconditioned response, conditioned stimulus, and conditioned response.
  • Plan 2: How could operant conditioning explain the development and persistence of the client’s undesired behavior? Include discussion of shaping and reinforcers (positive and negative), as well as punishments.  How could operant conditioning be used to help lessen or change the behavior?
  • Plan 3: How could cognitive and social learning theories explain the development and persistence of the client’s undesired behavior?  In particular, discuss the role of latent learning, learned helplessness, vicarious reinforcement and/or vicarious punishment as applicable.

(c) Recommendation – Conclusion Section: Now that you have examined scenarios related to the persistence of the undesired behavior, consider how you would recommend the client change their behavior.  Select one of the learning theories above and describe how it could be used to help the client lessen and change the desired behavior.

Requirements: Length = approximately 3-4 pages
