● What is propaganda?
● What are some examples of propaganda from our world (past & present)?
PROPAGANDA
Propaganda is information, especially of a biased or
misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a
particular political cause or point of view.
PROPAGANDA from our world
Propaganda is especially popular during times of war and during political elections as a tool used to convince people to support certain viewpoints/beliefs.
PROPAGANDA in 1984
Propaganda is continuously promoted via the telescreens in 1984 as a means to manipulate the people into complying
with their government’s aims.
PROPAGANDA in 1984
Propaganda is also found on almost every
wall in Oceania:
The daily Two- Minutes Hate in 1984 is a form of propaganda as well.
PROPAGANDA in 1984
The party’s continuous streaming of propaganda upon the people of Oceania is meant to mislead them into believing only in the ideals of the party. The ubiquitous amount of propaganda is
effective because its presence makes it nearly impossible for the people of Oceania to have any thoughts of their own.
Today you will create a piece of propaganda for our novel, 1984,
using a digital platform of your choice.
