This 6-7 page paper will ask you to consider a population you are interested in working with (AT-RISK YOUTH). Consider the elements of a biopsychosocial and the “categories” of questions used to assess. Think about why you are interested in this population (demonstrate self-awareness as well as knowledge about the population through peer-reviewed material). Identify the categories you feel are the most relevant to conceptualizing an understanding of this client population. Justify your rationale. Identify categories/topics and questions you would be challenged to ask. Explain what feels difficult/challenging. Demonstrate your self-awareness and insight: what connections are there between what you feel is important to know (categories of biopsychosocial) and what you are comfortable asking. Are they aligned? Not? In other words, how might your countertransference and personal experiences not only support but challenge your work with clients? What might you need to work on within yourself in order to be effective with this population? You will be assessed on your ability to connect the biopsychosocial ASSESSMENT to self-awareness: Understanding the needs of your client population Identifying your own challenges and areas of growth NOTE: Use at least 4 citations (from class readings and your own research-peer-reviewed articles – on working with this population).
