Using Dr. Deng’s “Crafting an Effective Thesis” document as a guide, create two theses based on one or more
our readings for this week (Madame Bovary, “The Kugelmass Episode,” or “Porphyria’s Lover”). Your theses,
based on Dr. Deng’s outline, should be arguable, complex, original, and meaningful. You should also be able to
draw on the skills you’ve developed in our previous discussion activities. Your theses can be on the same text
or two different texts. Think of this activity as a practice run for your Paper 1 thesis. Your post might not reach
200 words and that’s okay.
