The paper for this class will focus on any topic from the History of Chicago that you choose. Please have a topic ready by Week 8 and review the topic with me. Some sample topics include:
Theater in Chicago, The World’s Fairs in Chicago, The Great Migration to Chicago, The History of the Chicago Bulls, The Great Chicago Fire, The Great Migration to Chicago, The History of Chinatown in Chicago, Irish Immigration to Chicago in the 19th Century, Chicago and Fashion, The History of Chicago Blues Music, Mexican Immigration to Chicago, The History of Punk Rock in Chicago, Chicago and House Music, The Architectural History of Chicago, etc.
It’s important that you choose a topic that interests you!!
The main requirements are:
You must use a minimum of 2 primary and 3 secondary sources (Your textbook can count as one of the secondary sources). Remember that a “primary source” is something that comes from the actual time period that you’re writing about. Examples would be newspaper articles, first-hand testimonies or interviews, etc.
The paper must be a minimum of 4 full pages long, double spaced with 12 font and 1-inch margins.
