This assignment is hopefully a fun way to ease into
the writing process. To complete it, you have to play a little “make believe” and assume you’re
writing a brief report for your boss on a Shark Tank segment of your own choosing. This
exercise is designed to make you think a little more about audience considerations. Your reader
in this case is not just the professor. You are writing primarily for a fictional supervisor: an
educated professional with little background in technical entrepreneurial concepts. As this person
is your boss, you will need to write with clear, approachable language that is still appropriate for
a work setting. The goal for this essay is to take a complicated subject and explain it easily for a
non-expert, to satisfy a real-world requirement.
