review of Hamlet’s adaptation from Zefirelli (1990)

focus on how the character of Ophelia and Hamlets relationship between Ophelia and Gertrude are represented. Discuss if and how the female characters are empowered or given some agency in the adaptation. Consider if the directors choices in regards to the setting, cast, special effects, music, costumes, etc. are revising the sexist undertones in Shakespeares play and whether they allows us to discover new aspects of Shakespeares play.
