Research and use of sources, and about getting involved in the community.
These two lessons are about research and use of sources, and about getting involved in the community. Let’s merge the two disparate topics for this discussion board. Find out something you didn’t know about an issue you are passionate about (e.g. hunger, the environment, education, youth development, etc.). Conduct your search in the Academic Search Complete database available through the TROY Library. If the issue you select has two words in its name, use quotation marks to help the databases see it as a single term (for instance, doctor is okay without quotes, but “brain surgeon” needs quotation marks so the databases see it as a single search term). You might add words such as a state, demographic (age, gender, race) and time periods (e.g. since 2010). Use advanced search for this.
Once you’ve discovered something interesting, or even just unexpected, write a few sentences explaining what you learned. Please include citation information for the article or resource you use. I look forward to seeing what you’ll discover
