“From My Friend, Ro Vargo” Paper Instructions and OUTLINE

Read the article “From My Friend, Ro Vargo,” the story of one family’s inclusive school experience. Then, in a 6–10-page applied research paper, address the following using this outline for your paper. Be sure to USE bolded subtitles listed below. Remove A. B. C and use sub headers See sample paper for outline specifics.

 

I. Introduction

II. Theory

A. Explain the textbook concepts of:

a. risk and resilience

b. developmental pathways

c. EXAMPLE: Explain how is Ro’s story is consistent and/or inconsistent with the textbook discussion regarding these concepts

 

B. Select and explain ONE specific theoretical framework (e.g., sociocultural, family systems, physiological, etc…)

a. Fully explain one specific theory

b. Explain how this theory explains developmental outcomes

c. Describe potential implications for developmental outcomes including a discussion of optimal versus adequate adaptation

d. EXAMPLE: Share examples from the story that are consistent/inconsistent with the selected theory.

III. Full inclusion research:

Find 5 peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles (2005–present publication dates) addressing the pros/cons of full inclusion.

a. Summarize each of the five studies.

b. From an overall view of the research you explained, discuss the advantages and challenges associated with full inclusion.

c. EXAMPLES: Share examples from Ro’s story which illustrate principles highlighted in the research.

IV. Biblical integration:

Search the Bible for examples of how persons with special needs were treated, rejected and/or accepted. Examine what the Bible suggests regarding full inclusion. Be sure to avoid proof-texting verses (using verses out of context just to prove YOUR point).

a. Discuss three relevant passages related to full inclusion and individuals with disabilities.

b. Develop and then explain a rationale for full inclusion from a biblical perspective.
