In your own words and supported with textual evidence, address the following prompt: David Chalmers gives an argument in defense of the conclusion that conscious experience should be considered a fundamental part of reality. Patricia Churchland rejects Chalmers’s argument, whereas Thomas Nagel gives further support for Chalmers’s argument. In this paper, you are to (1) Explain Chalmers’s argument for this conclusion and (2) Choose either Churchland or Nagel, and (a) If you choose Churchland, explain her objection to Chalmers’s argument or (b) If you choose Nagle, explain how he adds further support to Chalmers’s conclusion. (You may not do both.) I would have liked to have done Nagel. I included the guidelines/rubrics/instructions. This is all based on the book “Arguing about the Mind”, which contains many different essays.
