Diagnostics and Interventions for the Global Human Capital Manager

Unit 4 IP

Part 1

Diagnostics and Interventions for the Global Human Capital Manager

The board of directors at AGC needs a status update on your change management project. Shawn asks you to write an executive report for John and the board of directors about the change management process and the progress being made toward resolving the global human capital management problems at AGC. This report will be shared at an upcoming investor meeting. Because the future success of AGC depends on achieving its human capital management goals, the board of directors wants to ensure that investors understand that it has changed its strategy to align human capital goals with its organizational goals.

Review the AGC scenario for this course and prepare a 750–1000 word executive report that describes the steps in your change management plan, including the following:

  • Diagnosis: A summary of AGC’s problems, how they were diagnosed, and your conclusions regarding the root causes.
  • Intervention: A description of human capital management strategies that you recommended to create change at AGC and how they were implemented.
  • Evaluation: How did you measure the effectiveness of your change management plan? What were the effects on the employees and the organization’s market performance?  (750 – 1,000 words)

Unit 5 IP

Part 2

The Changing Role of Global Human Capital Managers and Sustaining the Competitive Edge

You and Shawn are now ready to meet with John and AGC’s investor group. Shawn calls to check in with you about the executive report. You need to add one more section of information that will help ensure that AGC remains proactive and competitive in a quickly changing global environment. You have enjoyed working with Shawn on the change management project and know that you will soon have fond memories of helping AGC be more aware of the value of human capital.

Review the AGC scenario for this course, revise Part 1 of the Key Assignment based on your instructor’s feedback, and add an additional 750–1000 words to the executive report that addresses the following:

  • Now that the change management plan has been completed, describe AGC’s new leadership styles and organizational culture.
  • Are there any potential internal or external threats that AGC should be prepared to address in its business environment?
  • How can AGC detect these potential internal and external threats?
  • What are some methods that AGC can use to protect the organization from these internal and external threats?
  • (750–1,000 words)

These are to separate assignments.

What do you think is meant by a gap in the literature, and how can Newton’s words guide you in finding a gap in the literature?

Thread: The textbook addresses the concept of theory-based research. The authors state that, in order to produce an outstanding research study, researchers must conduct a review of the literature and formulate a research problem that will test a theory. Sir Isaac Newton, the famous physicist and mathematician, stated, “If I have seen farther than others, it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants.” Newton’s scientific discoveries were based on the prior works of eminent men such as Galileo and Copernicus.

  • What do you think is meant by a gap in the literature, and how can Newton’s words guide you in finding a gap in the literature?
  • The Bible reminds us in Colossians 2:8 (NIV) not to let deceptive philosophy or theories take us captive. Do you think this verse apply to us as Christians when conducting theory-based research?

Replies: The textbook addresses the concept of progressive discourse. This means that anyone at any time can offer productive criticism. If the criticism has merit, it is listened to and accommodated. The process of debate assumes that the researcher has a moral commitment to listen to his/her fellow colleagues and to remain open-minded. Progressive discourse is the hallmark of science and produces a better product. With this in mind, politely agree or disagree with a classmate’s thread. Support your arguments with the literature.

Submit your thread by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Thursday of Module/Week 1 and submit your replies by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of the same module/week.

How your chosen country ranks on the following dimensions of cultural variability:

The PPT must include, but not be limited to, the following:

(1)  A brief history/background on the country you have chosen. Understandably, many countries may have a vast history. Focus on what you perceive as the most important elements of the country’s history. Maybe discuss the origins/structure of the current government system, how old the country is, what language is spoken, the currency, etc. I’m looking for 2-3 slides of background on your country. Be sure to cite your sources on your reference slide.

(2)  How your chosen country ranks on the following dimensions of cultural variability:

a.  Individualism versus Collectivism

b.  Masculinity Versus Femininity

c.  Power Distance

d.  Indulgence Versus Restraint

e.  Long Term Orientation Versus Short Term Orientation

f.  Uncertainty Avoidance

If you are unable to locate direct research indicating where your country aligns on these dimensions you need to do your best to provide research that supports your rationale for where you would assume your country would rank on these dimensions. Be sure to explain what each dimension is and also give specific examples for each of these dimensions. Also, make sure to cite your sources on your reference slide.

(3)  Faux Pas. List societal faux pas for the country you have selected. Be specific and give examples. 10-15 Faux Pas are ideal. Be sure to cite your sources on your reference slide.

(4)  A 7-10 day daily break down of activities/tours for someone interested in visiting this country (be creative, have fun, and keep in mind your target audience while planning daily activities – your peers!). Be sure to include cost and information about the included activities.

A.  Flight and accommodation details (and inter-country flights if applicable).

B. Information about the country (Customs, currency, visa requirements, vaccinations, best time of the year to visit, etc.)

C. Cost. Understandably, cost will vary depending on the time of the year. Do your best to provide your classmates with a rough estimate of the cost for the trip. Include flight(s), accommodations, tours, food, and anything else that may cost money for this trip. A breakdown and total cost would be an awesome thing to include!

*Do some research online (sites like Tripadvisor, Fodors, Triptuner, to name a few, may be helpful – there are many resources available to help with planning), and talk with friends who may have already traveled to your chosen destination to help with this project. Include pictures! Most importantly, have fun with this assignment and learn something cool about a place you may actually be traveling to yourself in the near future!

Warning – If you copy and paste from websites to your slides this constitutes as plagiarism and you will receive a zero on this assignment. Be sure to paraphrase by putting what you read into your own words while also making sure to cite your sources.

Assignment 04

EC410 Cultural Diversity

Directions: Be sure to make an electronic copy of your answer before submitting it for grading. Unless otherwise stated, answer in complete sentences, and be sure to use correct English spelling and grammar. Sources must be cited in APA format.  Your response should be four (4) double-spaced pages in length; refer to the “Format Requirements” page for specific format requirements.

This assignment is comprised of two different parts that will show your learning of various course objectives from Lessons 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Part 1

Identify and discuss six values about life and success that you vividly recall learning from your family. For each, explain how the particular value is supported by or at odds with your current community setting; community setting may mean current family framework, school, job, peer group, etc. You will want to refer back to Lesson 1 and 2.

Part 2

To practice lesson planning, create an age appropriate activity for the early childhood aged student. Then, create a section of your lesson plan that describes three strategies that can be implemented to modify/adapt this lesson to meet the needs of dual language learners. Your lesson plan should include a learning objective (what the students will be able to do), materials, a step-by-step guide on how to complete the activity, and a description of the modifications/adaptations. You will want to refer back to Lesson 4.
