WEEK ONE CAPSTONE 2 SECOND CLASS

M.S. Psychology:This week you will begin creating the SPSS database that will be used to store and analyze your assessment data.  It is very important to set up the variables correctly before the data are entered.View the two videos, Setting up the Database 1 and Setting up the Database 2 for an example of how a database is created.Your database should contain the following variables:Participant ID numberProgram IDGroup (applicable only if you will be comparing two or more groups for a single program, such as a treatment group and a control group)Demographic variables (such as age, sex, and any other demographic variables that are important for your population).Assessment instrument items for one entire instrument (pre and post).Assessment instrument totals for remaining assessment instruments (pre and post). Please note that, if you were creating a database for an actual agency, each item of each assessment instrument would be a separate variable.  For the purposes of this course, you will need to select one assessment instrument for one of your programs and create a variable for every item on the measure in the database.  For the remaining assessment instruments for the two programs, you only need to enter a total score for each subscale. If there are no subscales, then just create a variable for the total score for the measure. For this discussion, submit the beginning of your SPSS database including numbers 1 through 4 above as well as at least a few items from number 5 above.  Use this discussion to clarify any issues related to setting up the variables in the database.  Also attach the instruments that are being used for each program. If you are not able to obtain an actual instrument, provide a description of the instrument that explains the items, measurement scale, and scoring instructions.  Provide a full reference for each instrument used in each of the two programs. The SPSS database containing all of the variables will be submitted for your Week 1 assignment. Please do these two groups children anxiety age 3 to 11 and Adult opiate substance treatment age65 and above. The videos mentioned are on you tube. The material is chapter 7 Evaluation Fundamentals insights into program Effectiveness, Quality, and Value. Author Arlene Fink. Please provide references for instruments used, Thank you

quota and stratified sampling.

Sooyan wants to study perceptions of sports advertising on a college campus. The student body at this university is 60% female and 40% male. He advertises for his study and there is a strong interest among the student body. He obtains statistically significant results and is looking forward to publishing them. However, after he has finished his study and two days before his project is due, he realizes that his sample included 70% males and 30% females. In reference to the above scenario, answer the following questions:Does this represent proper quota or stratified sampling? What do you think Sooyan should do?List three research strategies each, you can use to follow both quota and stratified sampling.Using the Online Library, find and summarize three articles. Focus on the methods they used to ensure representation.Do you think any of these methods are also applicable in research involving animals?

WK 8 Suicide Prevention

You are serving as consultants to help create a suicide prevention program for an at-risk population. For your project, it is assumed you have an unlimited budget and have access to any resources you would like. A resource list has been provided within the Topic Resources; however, you are not limited to these resources.Create a PowerPoint presentation consisting of 10 -12-slide, including title and reference slides. An optional outline has been provided. The presentation should address the following:Target Population: Select a target population (e.g., older individuals, individuals with economic problems, veterans, individuals with psychological disorders, LGBTQ, specific ethnic groups, prison populations, medical conditions, substance abuse, or individuals in public safety). Discuss demographics, general risk factors, and warning signs of suicide. Why is this population at greater risk? What are the specific issues or risk factors for this population?Identification: List ways the program will identify individuals or group most at risk for suicide (e.g., think beyond self-report surveys and consider including factors such as behavioral cues, psychophysiological measures, and brain scans). What are some ways the identification procedures can be implemented in the program so more at-risk individuals are identified?Barriers: What barriers exist for the chosen population. Who might need to seek help? (e.g., stigma, taboos, and shame). What can be done to eliminate these barriers? What role might faith and religion play (e.g., Christian Worldview)?Strategies: What strategies can be implemented to encourage individuals to reach out for help? What kind of public awareness/education strategies could be helpful?Prevention Plan: What is the plan to help individuals suffering from suicide ideation to prevent suicide? Are there established procedures that are helpful? Are there specific interventions that could be helpful for this population?Follow the recommended guide for creating effective PowerPoint presentations in the Student Success Center. You may use the optional outline provided for your PowerPoint presentation.1st Slide – Title slide2nd Slide – Objective Slide3rd Slide – Introduction to target population4th Slide – Why is this population at greater risk, describe risk factors5th Slide – How will the program identify those at greater risk6th Slide – Barriers to help7th Slide – How to eliminate barriers8th Slide – Specific strategies that might help9th Slide – Culmination of the program10th Slide – Reference slide

group suicide

This is a Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) assignment using the following scenario:As a group, you are serving as consultants to help create a suicide prevention program for an at-risk population. For your project, it is assumed you have an unlimited budget and have access to any resources you would like. A resource list has been provided within the Topic Resources; however, you are not limited to these resources.Barriers: What barriers exist for the chosen population. Who might need to seek help? (e.g., stigma, taboos, and shame). What can be done to eliminate these barriers? What role might faith and religion play (e.g., Christian Worldview)?6th Slide – Barriers to help (bullet points)7th Slide – How to eliminate barriers (small but detailed paragraph on how to eliminate)Use the school Library databases and include two to four scholarly sources from the school library to support your claims. In addition to the scholarly resources from the library, you can include classroom Topic Resources as well as your textbook as additional reference material.
