STEP 1:
Pick any local small business of which you are a current or past customer. This should be an independently owned business, meaning that it should not be part of a chain or of a franchise. Examples of businesses that fit the criteria could be, but are not limited to, your local dry cleaner, coffee shop, bakery, yoga studio, small hardware store, gallery, nail salon, etc. (there is no limit to the type or size of business).
If you are unsure whether the business is independently owned, you have two options: 1) you can ask the staff and let them know that you have a school assignment that requires you to study a business that is independently owned (not part of a chain or a franchise); 2) or, you can just proceed as if it is independently owned. Some businesses have just a handful of locations owned by the same person: you can consider that as independently owned.
At the top of your essay, clearly write the name of your selected company, its website URL if it has a website (if not, then write any online link where I can view it, and/or a link to Google Maps that shows its location), and write a short paragraph in which you explain why you selected it.

Suppose that you are looking for a marketing internship in that small business.
Your motivation is that it would give you a chance to practice many aspects of Marketing and help to the small business’ marketing performance in a meaningful manner.
Imagine that the owner agrees to hear you pitch yourself and make your internship request.
Please write, in a document, exactly what you would tell the owner during your pitch.
The purpose of the pitch is to explain what you would do during your Marketing Internship.
Show the owner how you would proceed to analyze the business’ current marketing and to develop recommendations to enhance its marketing performance.
In other words, show that you master the frameworks / concepts / methods that you have learned in your marketing course (specifically the chapters listed as part of the scope of this Final). Be sure to show your mastery of the course’s proper vocabulary.
Please provide some examples of your first impressions and preliminary ideas, but DO NOT submit an actual detailed marketing analysis nor a detailed marketing plan. The purposes of the examples is only to show that you know how to proceed and how to concretely apply what you have learned.
