National Prevention Strategy

Question description

To prepare for this Discussion:

• Review the “National Prevention Strategy.”

• Review the web linked information on Risk and Protective factors.

• Review the media segment “Prevention,” with Dr. Mark Kiselica. Think about the prevention approaches that Dr. Kiselica discusses and how these may be exemplified.

• Consider social issues, problems, or concerns and how they might differently be addressed through public health and mental health prevention strategies or initiatives.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 4 a comparison (similarities and differences) of public health prevention and mental health prevention. In your comparison, provide specific examples of how prevention approaches and strategies are used to addresses issues, problems, or concerns related to both public and mental health.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources.

public health and environmental science paper

Question description

It’s a public health and environmental science paper. I have attached a slide I started. Thanks. APA Writing, References, and Citations. 5-8 slides each.

Superfund Site:

A now closed car rental headquarters once resided on property in your community.  Several underground storage tanks were removed upon cleanup, and now contamination has been found in multiple drainage areas. Groundwater flows 20 feet below ground at this site. Your team will need to define and characterize at least two chemicals that have been found at the site and their associated risks for groundwater contamination.

The 2 chemicals are—- GASOLINE AND WASTE OIL

Monitoring– Slides describing how the health department plans to monitor the health status of the community with respect to your scenario.

Evaluation– Slides describing how your solutions will be evaluated.  Briefly explain the evaluation design, including outcomes to be measured, and a few strengths/limitations of your approach. Question description

Personal Public Health Leadership Theory

Question description

For your final written assignment, you refine and develop your Public Health Leadership Theory based on leadership theories and a systems approach learned in this course. For this Assignment, your theory should reflect Instructor feedback, researched studies, introspection, innovation, and literature analysis.

The Assignment:

Section 1 — Abstract and Introduction (1–2 pages)

Section 2 — Revised Literature Review and Problem Statement (Complete, SEE ATTACHED):

  • Literature Review to include:
    • A synthesis of the literature of 15–20 peer reviewed, scholarly resources
    • A description of theoretical gaps in the research
  • Problem Statement to include:
    • An explanation of the specific problem that addresses identified gaps within the literature
    • An explanation of how your problem statement incorporates implications for positive social change.

Section 3 — Personal Public Health Leadership Theory (2–3 pages):

  • An articulation of your personal Public Health Leadership Theory

Section 4 — Revised Visual Representation of Your Public Health Leadership Theory (REVISE!!! SEE ATTACHED):

Your visual representation should include:

  • Your personal Public Health Leadership Theory to address the gaps identified in the literature
  • A visual representation of the theory (e.g. table, graph, matrix)
  • A explanation on how the theory addresses the literature gap identified in Week 5
  • A description of how your theory incorporates aspects of systems thinking

Section 5 — Empirical Evaluation Plan for a Public Health Leadership Theory (3–4 pages):

You will assess if the newly developed leadership theory addresses the problem you have been working on. What methodological steps will you use? How will you collect data? Suggestion – start with how theories in our text are evaluated. It does not have to be detailed, but it must include the methods, measures and analytic techniques.

If the assignments are done correctly, there should be an alignment from the topic of choice to the evaluation:

  • The topic is researched in the literature
  • The literature review points out a theoretical gap that needs to be addressed by leadership
  • The gap is turned into a problem statement
  • A leadership theory to address the problem proposed
  • The theory is depicted in a visual; and finally
  • An evaluation plan describes how the newly developed theory resolves the problem identified in the literature

To further help, examples (Two final projects – permission given to post) are located in the Doc Sharing area for this week

Section 6 — Conclusion (1–2 pages)

Section 7 — References

  • An APA-formatted reference list of 15–20 peer-reviewed, scholarly journals

What issues need to be considered when planning an information systems project to increase data security

Question description

Data Standards and Data Security

Common data formats are critical to being able to exchange data quickly and smoothly. Establishing the standards for those common formats takes a great deal of negotiation and communication. In addition, security of information is a crucial consideration, especially when it is transmitted over the Internet or is part of a large database system. Data standards can also facilitate security issues.

In preparation for this week’s Discussion, review the article on cybersecurity presented in this week’s Learning Resources. Consider the strategies presented for increasing Internet data security. You may also wish to conduct additional research on the Internet about data security prior to posting your response.

response to the following.( Maximum of 2 page)

  • What issues need to be considered when planning an information systems project to increase data security?
  • What strategies can be used to increase data security?

  • Course Text: Public Health Informatics and Information Systems by Patrick W. O’Carroll, William A.Yasnoff, M. Elizabeth Ward, Laura H. Ripp, and Ernest L. Martin (Eds.)

Chapter 11, “Data Standards in Public Health Informatics”

This chapter provides the rationale for establishing data standards, and discusses the need for the public health industry to adopt data standards to more effectively meet the public’s health needs. An interesting history of the development of data standards is presented, along with a discussion of the need for developing national data standards for public health.

Review this brief description/definition of the difference between the Web and the Internet. Data transmitted across the Internet also must comply with data standards.

  • Article: Larson, G. (2006). The magic of packets. Business & Commercial Aviation, 99(3).

This article is another succinct and easy-to-read resource that explains how packet switching occurs on the Internet and the telephone! All of this can occur because of data standards.

  • Article: Berkowitz, B., & Hahn, R. (2003). Cybersecurity: Who’s watching the store? Issues in Science & Technology, 19(3), 55-64.

This article examines Internet security from the perspective of the U.S. government’s involvement in developing regulations to better control cybercrime. Types of threats are discussed, along with the new cybersecurity strategies the U.S. government has put in place.

While this is a more technical article, there is a great deal of good information about how voice-over Internet protocol (VoIP) works and the impact of packet switching in this technology. When referring to technology and computers, protocol is another name for data standards, or the rules that govern communication between computers.
