Post a description of at least one potential benefit of using big data as part of a clinical system and explain why.

When you wake in the morning, you may reach for your cell phone to reply to a few text or email messages that you missed overnight. On your drive to work, you may stop to refuel your car. Upon your arrival, you might swipe a key card at the door to gain entrance to the facility. And before finally reaching your workstation, you may stop by the cafeteria to purchase a coffee.

From the moment you wake, you are in fact a data-generation machine. Each use of your phone, every transaction you make using a debit or credit card, even your entrance to your place of work, creates data. It begs the question: How much data do you generate each day? Many studies have been conducted on this, and the numbers are staggering: Estimates suggest that nearly 1 million bytes of data are generated every second for every person on earth.

As the volume of data increases, information professionals have looked for ways to use big data—large, complex sets of data that require specialized approaches to use effectively. Big data has the potential for significant rewards—and significant risks—to healthcare. In this Discussion, you will consider these risks and rewards.

To Prepare:

  • Review the Resources and reflect on the web article Big Data Means Big Potential, Challenges for Nurse Execs
  • Reflect on your own experience with complex health information access and management and consider potential challenges and risks you may have experienced or observed.

Using the “Module 4 | Part 4” section of your Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Template presented in the Resources, conduct an analysis of the elements of the research article you identified.

Part 4:Research analysis

Architect Daniel Libeskind is credited with saying “To provide meaningful architecture is not to parody history, but to articulate it.” The suggestion is that his work does not copy the efforts of others but relies on it.

Understanding the work of others is critically important to new work. Contributions to the nursing body of knowledge can happen when you are able to analyze and articulate the efforts of previous research. Research analysis skills are therefore critical tools for your toolbox.

In this Assignment, you will locate relevant existing research. You also will analyze this research using a tool helpful for analysis.

To Prepare:

  • Reflect on the strategies presented in the Resources this Module’s Learning Resources in support of locating and analyzing research.
  • Use the Walden Library to identify and read one peer-reviewed research article focused on a topic in your specialty field that interests you.
  • Review the article you selected and reflect on the professional practice use of theories/concepts described by the article.

The Assignment:

Using the “Module 4 | Part 4” section of your Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Templatepresented in the Resources, conduct an analysis of the elements of the research article you identified. Be sure to include the following:

  • Your topic of interest.
  • A correctly formatted APA citation of the article you selected, along with link or search details.
  • Identify a professional practice use of the theories/concepts presented in the article.
  • Analysis of the article using the “Research Analysis Matrix” section of the template
  • Write a 1-paragraph justification stating whether you would recommend this article to inform professional practice.
  • Write a 2- to 3-paragraph summary that you will add to your Academic Success and Professional Development Plan that includes the following:
    • Describe your approach to identifying and analyzing peer-reviewed research.
    • Identify at least two strategies that you would use that you found to be effective in finding peer-reviewed research.
    • Identify at least one resource you intend to use in the future to find peer-reviewed research.

Note:Add your work for this Assignment to the original document you began in the Module 1 Assignment, which was built from theAcademic Success and Professional Development Plan Template.

For this assignment, compile and present in tabular format a list of 15 culturally competent strategies for English language learners (ELLs) that you could use in your early childhood education teaching or leadership role.

Culturally Relevant Methods

[WLOs: 3, 4] [CLOs: 1, 2]

As an early childhood educator or early childhood administrator you have such an important role in supporting each and every child in your care. Prior to writing this assignment, review the Teaching Children Cultural Competence in Early Childhood Education (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. article and Chapters 1 and 2 of your text. Then search for and read at least one additional scholarly source.

For this assignment, compile and present in tabular format a list of 15 culturally competent strategies for English language learners (ELLs) that you could use in your early childhood education teaching or leadership role. At least five of your strategies should be appropriate for infants/toddlers, five strategies should be appropriate for preschool, and five strategies should be appropriate for early elementary age.

Your chart should include the following four headings and provide content for each strategy of similar focus and depth, including support from one credible source for the “Print-Rich Environment” example shown below:

Name of Strategy

Age Group

How strategy supports an aspect of diversity that is important in early childhood education

Specific example with explanation of this strategy will be used to support ELLs.

Print Rich Environment

Preschool

This strategy helps to support language development because children and families can see examples of language and vocabulary in the environment as a model for print and language.

Around the early childhood education environment, several index sized cards will be used to label areas of the classroom with common vocabulary terms that children and families need to learn. Examples include clock, chair, window, door, books, arts area, computers, etc.

Part 2: Academic Resource and Strategies

New construction projects begin with a design phase, where architects blueprint the vision complete with design details. They work in collaboration with builders who use the designs to prepare the appropriate strategies, tools, and materials to bring the vision to reality.
