A total of four annotated bibliographies are to be submitted (not to exceed one page each). The articles must come from nursing scholarly literature and may not be older than 5 years since publication. Please note that the articles must be research based and reflect a quantitative methodology (review our reading assignments). Web pages, magazines, textbooks, and other books are not acceptable.

Each annotation must address the following critical elements:

1.Explanation of the main purpose and scope of the cited work

2.Brief description of the research conducted

3.Value and significance of the work (e.g., studys findings, scope of the research project) as a contribution to the subject under consideration

4.Possible shortcomings or bias in the work

5.Conclusions or observations reached by the author

6.Summary as to why this research lends evidence to support the potential problem identified specific to your role option.

Scenario: You are asked to lead a nursing task force in your hospital to look into problems with recruitment and retention of nurses. You will gather information as to why nurses leave as well as why you are unable to recruit nurses to your organization.
Please feel free to interview your colleagues or nursing leaders within or outside your organization to gather information as well as your literature search.
Documents: You are to examine the changing trends in healthcare that impact the formation of the professional nursing role. In your research, you can explore the following topics as a start and certainly add to them:
Health Care reform
Complexity of patients
Value- based purchasing
Increased educational requirements
Role of Magnet Recognition in organizations:
BSN as a requirement for employment
Issues with scope of practice
Impact of the Future of Nursing Report on practice and education
Assignments:
Part 1 Research your topics you must include at least three factors that influence the nurses role and affect practice.
Part 2 What organizational changes do you recommend to the Nursing Leadership Board. You must provide evidence to support your recommendations as well as a reference page.
Tasks:
1.You are to create a presentation to the Nursing Leadership Team outlining the important aspects impacting the role of the professional nurse in todays healthcare system. Include in your presentation the factors that influence the role.
2.You must also include the organizational changes that you feel need to be put in place to support the professional nurse role. You must supply evidence to support your recommendations. A reference page is to be submitted reflecting the sources of your evidence.

7. Recall the last time you walked into a hospital, clinic, or physician office for the first time. What was your first impression? Did you feel comfortable and welcome? Why or why not? If you could change the first impression this facility makes, what would you
do? What changes could be made at a very low cost? What changes would be expensive? Finally, discuss why it is important for a health-care facility to make a good first impression.
8. Interview one of the staff nurses on your unit. Find out what practices within the organization help to empower the nurses. Compare this list of practices with those discussed in the textbook.
