Integrative approaches to psychology and Christianity

4MAT book review on: Integrative approaches to psychology and Christianity:An introduction to worldview issues, philosophical foundations and models of integration.By David N. Entwistle

2-Pg Summary- Be appropriately concise but also be adequately complete in your ideas. Prove that you comprehend the main ideas by writing a clear and succinct summary. The summary is not a commentary or listing of topics but rather a discussion of the core ideas (main ideas) in the entire book. Cite the book in-text at least once per paragraph and include page numbers for direct quotations.

1-pg Concrete Response-In approximately 1 page, write about a personal life episode that this book triggered in your memory. Relate your story in first person, describing action and quoting exact words you remember hearing or saying. In the teaching style of Jesus, this is your own parable, case study, or personal connection to the main ideas of the book. Your comments in this section need to be clearly tied to main points from the book, not tangential ideas. Connect your comments to the main points for the reader.

1-pg Reflection – This section is a short critique or evaluation of the author’s main ideas; include positives/negatives and strengths/weaknesses. You should consider new questions that arose for you in response to what you have read and explore concerns, implications, etc.

1-pg Action – What are you going to do about it? Develop action steps based on the core points of the book. This section must be a description of how the main ideas will affect your counseling. What professional changes will you implement and share with others? Be precise in summarizing your action steps and clearly connect your action steps to main points from the book.

In sum, after having read Entwistle per my suggestions, you should be able to explain the following in your paper:
The concept of truth: both psychology and theology seek truth—why have they been enemies in the past, and why do some counselors still see them as enemies?; how do to the two systems seek truth differently?; what epistemology does each system accept/reject?; how can each discipline contribute to truth in ways that the other may not be able to?; why is “all truth is God’s truth” an important tenant in the Christian worldview?; what is meant by the “two books”?
Why is the concept of worldview so important to both psychologists and theologians? What are the implications to counseling for a therapist’s worldview?
What are the main elements of the models of integration? What are the implications for integration (and counseling) if one identifies with one model over another?

White color as perspective experience instead of physical attribute.

Title: White is Not Empty

Topic: White color as perspective experience instead of physical attribute.

Research Questions:
1. What are the different meanings of white for people?
2. How and why was white related to different situations?(e.g. emptiness, peace, Hospital and medicine, wedding and purity, zen, minimalism, death, and racial problems. etc.)

Thesis:
White is not only a color that implies empty, the meaning and impression of white varies a lot from purity to death when we consider white as a perspective experience instead of a physical attribute.

The significance of the study:
1.Explore the reasons makes white so special to people from different cultural backgrounds.
2. The research of white could reflect and solve some misunderstanding and stereotypes existing in psychology, marketing, design, architecture, culture and even race.

Read “On stereotypes” by Mahzarin R. Banaji and Anthony G Greenland. Write an 6-8 pages argumentative essay in MLA format. I came up with a thesis: Nowadays, we are inserted in a world where our social and cultural development occurs through exchanging information, thoughts, and perspectives that serve as the feeder of stereotypes between societies. I also have a source that must be used. It include 4 source. You can choose two other different ones for a total of 6 sources. Kurylo, A. (2015). A research project on an infectious illness in the U.S. or global population that has a zoonotic/environmental component relevant to our One Health theme.

A research project on an infectious illness in the U.S. or global population that has a zoonotic/environmental component relevant to our One Health theme. Using your understanding of the bio-psycho-socio-cultural model of illness & health care, you must integrate at least two different disciplines into your research. For example, if I was interested in researching the cholera epidemic in Haiti, I could include any combination of the following disciplines: history (impact of natural disasters, like earthquakes, over time); ecology (effects of deforestation on Haitian culture & health); political science (instability in the government & poverty); molecular biology (the pathophysiological effects or transmission of an infectious disease); public health (response of the WHO to the cholera outbreak); anthropology/medical ethics (study of Dr. Paul Farmer’s work in Haiti); psychology (mental health issues in the earthquake/epidemic aftermath).

The paper must have the following components:
1) final project title (a title that should follow academic convention,
being both engaging and descriptive of the focus of your project)
2) one paragraph abstract,
3) discussion of results/data ORGANIZED into sections with logical headers,
4) conclusions (This is not a summary! Your conclusion should include analysis of your research),
5) At least 10 sources. ( these will be provided and uploaded)
